No, they weren't. Recruiting is fluid and our behind the scenes folks made it happen. Got him to visit and flip. Clemson was out in front.

I personally do not think we were ever completely out of it, but I do believe Clemson had the lead at some point a couple months ago. I believe there were some Clemson mods saying the same. Just glad he signed with us at the end of the day.

There have been quotes from Crouch and his has coach talking about setting up the last visit here. Everything I saw was that the coach had to remind Crouch about UT and how he felt on visits here. Crouch had an "oh yeah" moment and came in to see if he still felt the same. Hardly sounded like we were heavy in his mind at the time

I believe Clemson led for Crouch going into that final wkend; but, by only a slim margin. I believe he wanted to be a Vol all along; but, was VERY spooked by the cancers on the team, and this is why Clemson had that small lead.

He always said, that he was going to let schools eliminate themselves, and I believe that Clemson did that going into that final wkend. I think when he told Dabo he was visiting us that wkend, Dabo gave him an ultimatum, and Crouch called his bluff. Crouch, now feeling raw about the ultimatum, had the deal sealed for him that wkend on his visit to Knoxville.
