Not sure about the cookout but it wouldn’t surprise me to see 1 or more commitments. For all of Butchs faults he was really good at building excitement for special events and would always have commitments lined up. All coaches do this, just not to the level of CBJ. But it made the event something recruits wanted to go to.

This is the thing he was good at and you have to give him his due on , he kept a high vibe going and kept Tennessee’s name buzzing with recruiting news . You could just about bank on it if there was something negative he would get a recruit to pop and spin it into a positive .

If we’re being fair, he did everything off the field that you could want a coach to do. But on the field he was a train wreck. He would make a great AD.
