Auburn DL transfer Marquis Robinson is scheduled to wrap up his visit to Tennessee today after arriving in Knoxville on Saturday. He also traveled to Missouri before his visit with the Vols, and based on everything I’ve been told, there’s a good chance he will be picking a new school and enrolling there in the very near future. Monday is the drop/add deadline for spring-semester classes at Tennessee, so if he wants to join the Vols this semester, he will have to start classes on Monday.
After talking with a couple of sources today, I’m not ready to say anything is a done deal, but I think there’s at least a good chance he will end up choosing Tennessee. It sounds like there’s a pretty strong relationship and plenty of trust between Robinson and Vols DL coach Rodney Garner — who previously recruited Robinson to Auburn — and Robinson’s family seems to feel good about the possibility of him reuniting with Garner, too.
It’s also worth noting that Missouri just landed one of Robinson’s fellow Auburn DL transfers, Ian Matthews, from the transfer portal. So I think that’s another sign that things are looking pretty positive for the Vols in regard to Robinson.
We’ll pass along any additional updates as we get them.
