FL LB DeMario Tolan (LSU commit)

its pretty telling for sure.

I’m not so sure about that. They are all career Midwest guys. When Saban went from Mich St. to LSU, none of his assistants followed.

Kelly has won every he has been and has had to build programs that were in really bad shape when he got there, including Notre Dame. I think he has been the best hire of this crazy off-season so far.

Big surprise that Kelly’s staff doesn’t want to follow him.(blue font) He is a class A D***head

I read that he is getting a promotion to DC, but Mike Elston is electing to stay at Notre Dame. He is the recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach. He's been working with Brian Kelly for 18 YEARS!

The lack of loyalty from his staff is deafeningly loud, and it should be reminded to every recruit at LSU.

BK is the winningest coach in Notre Dame history, and there are fans and writers that I have seen say (I believe earnestly) that this could be addition by subtraction. Their rationale is essentially that you keep Freeman's defense, and Tommy Rees's offense will no longer be held back by Kelly's more outdated concepts.

Could all that just be sour grapes? Sure. However, I think it also speaks to some degree to the fact that people just don't like Brian Kelly.

Numerous fans that I've seen have said things like, "I never really liked Kelly, but he was a fantastic coach," or "I'm certainly not a Kelly fan," etc, etc.

My own personal perception is coloring my commentary, as well, but I have always thought he seemed like a really unlikable guy. So, I can see how people would say, "well, this sucks but I'm glad he's gone."

Kelly wouldn't have a problem telling Tolan that he's keeping the LB coach just to turn around and fire him after signing day. The only coach that Kelly probably retains is the DB coach because he is one of the best DB coaches and recruiters in college football...pretty sure that LSU fans would melt down if he was let go.

If your CJH and co you’ve gotta do some dirty recruiting here and hammer these 2 points in HARD!
CJH simply needs to lay it out in black and white and Tolan has already mentioned it. UT knows the direction it's going and LSU has to re-organize. Stability vs. instability.

Ain't no way that staff under coach O is going to adapt to BK's system flawlessly, imo. A smart recruit should sense that but no harm in Heupel politely making a suggestion.

I completely agree he is unlikable. If we would have hired him in any of the previous coaching searches I would have been ecstatic though.

I think the current situation of coaches not following him could be a red flag. It could also mean nothing given his track record.

You're right. It could totally also just be him wanting more SEC flavor and experience on his new staff.

I just want them to tell Tolan that it's the most damning indictment on BK since he negligently killed that student manager.

Transfer portal and no penalty for the first time makes that a risky proposition for any coach.

Loyalty inspires loyalty. One of the first accounts reported in this story was an assistant in the middle of a recruiting visit when he received the text. He didn’t have any of them in the loop that he was even talking to LSU and this particular assistant felt humiliated.

That kind of stuff is HUGE, right?

Your boss just negotiated a deal completely behind your back, and left you hanging out in the cold to look like a fool. I mean, he could have insulated you from that type of issue, but he chose not to for whatever reason.

Just a heads up shows respect…you’re right.

So, every time that you guys consider a career change, you consult with staff?
That’s a good way for word to get out and get yourself fired.
I know that these guys operate in rarefied air with great contracts (as long as you’re winning), but perceived disloyalty generally gets rewarded likewise in my industry.

Not one member of Bryan Kelly staff at Notre Dame is willing to compete against the SEC, on the field or in recruiting. No wonder they couldn’t compete with them at Notre Dame! They choose to stay comfortable, and with that easy schedule I’m sure Coach Freeman will be able to get them eight or nine wins a year!!!

So LSU got used by LR to get a better deal at USC. Then spends way too much on a coach that all his coaches turned down. Now they’re scrambling trying to keep their recruits who have no idea who their coaches will be. Meanwhile, aTm and AL are breaking the bank paying for the elite players.
