This kid was allegedly here over the summer, then again for Florida, and again for Bama. Was he here for UK, as well? There is an article up in 247 if anyone has it.
“I had to make it,” Gibson said. “I drove all the way up there, so that should tell you how bad I wanted to make that game. I knew that was probably going to be, like, one of the best games this year, so I just wanted to experience it and watch history be made, you know? I just wanted to say I could be a part of that.
He said he fell while running onto the field at one point and lost his phone in the process. He was pleasantly surprised that he was eventually able to track it down.
“I got out on the field. I’m running. I fell on my butt,” Gibson said. “I guess my phone slipped out in the process, and I was a little upset about that, just looking for it all day. Surprisingly, somebody picked it up and gave it to the officer, so it was good.”
Gibson admitted that the Vols are one of the top teams he’s considering. But he’s not ready to say exactly where Tennessee stands among his favorites.
“I’ve got a good idea,” he said, “but I don’t want to say it right now.”
He said Georgia and Texas also are still among the teams standing out to him, along with “a few more that I ain’t going to give out yet.”
-247“I feel like it’s a good fit. When I get there, I feel like it’ll be a better fit for me, too.”
On3 Consensus ranking: No. 11
Texas offered: February 25, 2022
Notes: Has been a top target of Tashard Choice in the 2024 cycle for months. The Longhorns are in a good spot early on, but watch out for Tennessee with all the momentum now in Knoxville. Gibson was at Tennessee for the Alabama game, and the Vols staff is working him as much as any. Hometown Florida is also squarely in the mix, as is Georgia if they push.
