I think you are wrong. And Tony Barnhart was saying the same thing as well during one of their segments together. There is not another SEC journalist any better or well connected than he is IMO

Wrong about what? Mathews is trying to have his cake and eat it too and nothing that’s happened/is happening supports his statements.

Barnhart has no idea what’s going on in Knoxville....he usually defers to Mathews during his appearances on Doug’s Saturday shows regarding anything happening at Tennessee beyond anything that’s already being reported.

Doug is able to say that Pruitt already has his guy, just hasn’t announced it, without saying who it is. He’s also said that he heard it directly from Fulmer....while also saying that he doesn’t talk specific Tennessee football things with Fulmer, doesn’t ask him specific questions because he doesn’t want to put Fulmer is awkward positions because people know how close their relationship is. Which is it? There are a lot of people who cover the team even more closely than Doug, who have excellent sources (Hubbs, Price, Callahan, et al) who dispute, even chuckle a bit at Doug’s “its 95% done” statement he made 3 weeks ago.

So he’s all over the map. At the end of the day, no matter when the hire is made and no matter who it is, he can say “I stand behind what I said, I knew it all along and told you do”, without having told us anything.

I just don’t think he’s credible here.

I keep having a hard time finding this.
All I find is reports says Saban is expected to, not that it ever happened.

PSU may be too much to overcome especially if his parents visiting there is true, but Cain could not have picked a better weekend to visit. We pretty much have our entire OL class in town (counting Wright), our lone QB commit, and our lone RB commit (Gray). Hopefully he hits it off with all these guys. Having his HS teammate in his ear won’t hurt either.
