He's good at scheming against a defense but not that good at in-game adjustments once the defense adjusts to him. The media loves him because they know he will provide many one liners they can promote (similar to why they loved the Ole Ball Coach so much)

The way I've heard the phenomenon described is that a clinically depressed person doesn't have the energy to go through the action of suicide. When on antidepressants, you go through a stage where you have developed that energy, but are still depressed.
