FLA LB Davis Message Hurd

Oh cry me a river...our whole team referred to Bama as the red team last year...smack talk is part of the game. Just hope we can back it up better than previous years

Never understood why that was considered such an insult....guess their women (and men) flow a little heavier than most populaces? :yuck:

This honestly reminds me of the crap people used to say about Tebow (barf) - "Man we comin fo Tebow, he better buckle his chin strap. Welcome to the SE..." and then Tebow would truck said trash talker over and over again. They know he's good and he's coming for that azz - they are trying to manufacture confidence.

I really hope our players see these comments and laugh. They're definitely trying to get in their heads - they know they are going to need any advantage they can get. I see this team as being too dialed in to let it affect them negatively. This isn't a Dooley or even a Fulmer coached team - as Butch says, emotional teams are high and low - I want a PASSIONATE azz kicking to rain down on the Gators. God knows they deserve it more than any team we play.

First did you guys see the play where Hurd literally dragged the UgA player 9 yards? It was like some kid hanging on your leg.

Second, if they do go after Hurd that will result with more defenders in the box and going over the top with North and Pig and company.

Hurd still gets over 100 Saturday. Florida's offense is not good enough to keep their defense off the field. By late 3rd/4th Qtr Hurd's yards will start piling up.

I hope we call a play just for Davis. A pulling Guard laying a Wham block on Davis would be a beautiful sight. Earhole him, then on the next play let Hurd just truck him.

How much more motivation is even possible to achieve tho? Nobody currently at UT has beaten UF. Its an SEC east opponent. Its a step toward a winning season and a bowl appearance. There comes a point where motivation has topped out and it gets back to playing football.

And quite a few of our players are undefeated against them. :shades:

I'm not sure you guys are correct about them trying to get into our heads- I think they just flat out don't respect us. I mean think about it-this years senior class has never lost to UT. Last years senior class never lost to UT. The senior class before that never lost. The senior class before that never lost. The senior class before that never...

For those of you that are doubting Hurd's speed, consider the fact that the coaches all say that he is the fastest player on the team. Hurd is barely shorter than Worley (by an inch) and you can see a HUGE difference in speed between them. Just because his legs don't look like they're moving fast doesn't mean that HE'S not. You gotta remember that he's moving a 6'3" frame awfully fast.

And before anyone gets in on the "defenders catch up to him so easily", I'm an engineer and I'm very good at math. Don't get me started on angles and whatnot. That's been discussed at length in other threads.

I swear, Volnation has to b*tch about something regardless of who it is.

I appreciate your input....really do....however....just to the eye test....and I think most knowledgeable observers would feel this way....Jalen just hasn't shown what we would call breakaway speed YET....Now...his burst speed in the 1, 2,3,4 gap is really strong...no doubt...and if ask to chose between the two....give me the gap speed anyday....Just saying I want to see that breakaway speed soon....and I think we will....

I agree. I haven't seen 4.37 speed on a couple of his second level runs at all. Looks more 4.5-4.55ish. That being said, while he doesn't look as fast as I thought he would, he also looks stronger than I thought he would. It's a wash for me at this point. Either way, kid's a beast.

I agree to an extent. I would like to see a play where he gets into the open field and can hit top gear running north/south. No hesitation, no looking for blockers, no running at an angle toward sideline, no trying to get around a defender. He runs so smoothly with longer strides than what we are accustomed to seeing from a running back. I am not convinced we have seen his top speed yet.

They want our kids to come out ready to explode then lose the emotion after something bad happens. I can think of times in the 90's where our players were jacked out of their heads then in the 3rd quarter they had nothing left in the emotion tank.

That's a little overstated. The fact is that in the past 20+ years, Florida has done the same thing to Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and LSU and even worse to Vandy and Kentucky. They owned everybody from 1992 to about 2011.

And they were constantly talking smack week after week against their rivals and more times than not, backing it up on the field.

Tim Beauchamp in '97 called out Peyton.

Doug Johnson in '99 called out TN.

and the list goes on...

Lets just let our pads do the talking.Seems like win or lose we always leave the other team a little sore.

A 6'3" 235 running back running 4.4 is going to look different than a 5'9" 180 pound running back running the same. While it may not look like he is going that fast, every documented thing we have says he is. I think his size is creating a false illusion.

Yeah okay. That's why Kentucky and Bama ran all over you. You're just soooooo good.

this is what I thought too. KY almost beats them and if it wasn't for 2 turnovers in the bama game, they wouldn't have scored but 7 points.

maybe they'll start tackling each other also. as swain says, FOR WHAT????!!!!!:eek:lol:

On a couple of long runs this season, he was far ahead of the defensive players and I saw three of them catch him before he could reach the endzone.

Maybe the UGA game or the Okla homo game. I have seen those highlights several times.

A player like Jamaal Lewis orTravis S. or Charlie G. would have made it to the endzone.

He doesn't have blazing speed once he hits the second level of the defense.

It is true!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you on this McDad. Referencing Rudy's comments, he has not had a clear shot north/south. He has had to run over someone in the secondary slowing him down and then the defenders have had the angles after that. Also, his legs eat up a lot of ground because of his height/stride which "looks" slower. I think we will see a break eventually where he hits a hole with clear acreage ahead of him and he'll gazelle to the end zone. :good!:

**** it. I'm done. Enough of the he said she said bull****. Play ****ing ball. Spin the gators helmets. Is no way in hell the gators are leaving Neyland with a victory. These Vols are to good, to hungry, and will simply not allow this team to lose 3 in a row.

UF is scared, plain and simple. Keep talking trash boys. The Vols First step back up the mountain, is going to be over you.
