Florida at Mizzou

I mean we’re going to be dealing with it sooner or later. I could see Florida pulling trigger on freeze

You think the Gators have enough pull in the SEC offices to get that through?

I mean even Saban got slapped down when he even thought about hiring him.

I think the SEC offices don’t care at this point. They definitely didn’t want anyone hiring him that quickly off the debacle at Ole Miss but it’s been a few years.

Dan seemed happy enough walking to shake hands after that sorry game. All smiles and laughs. Seems pretty content to play for his buyout now.

This is why I wish we could play Florida later in the season. Give them a couple losses on their record and they mail it in the 2nd half of the season.
Except against us. They would never mail it in against UT. They are like 18-2 against us in the last 20 and have had some very bad teams during that time. Astounding

But they are also always our 1st or 2nd SEC game most years. If we were able to keep Georgia where we normally played them and put Florida in that new spot on the schedule in November, I have to believe we would have a better record against them after their season goes down the drain.

Maybe. But it’s not like UT has been lighting it up in late October/November over the last 20 years either. We got progressively better this year and if we played them again all things considered this year, hopefully we would get them. But I have my doubts

WHy can't we just be ready for them whenever the game is scheduled to play? We've known for 30+ years that were going to play them the upcoming September.

It is worth noting that the one time the game was played after November 1st, also happens to be the best game that Tennessee has ever played vs Florida. As a 14 point road underdog with everything (SEC East, SEC, Rose Bowl) still on the line for both teams on December 1, 2001 .... Tennessee won the game.

The notion that Tennessee would benefit from the game being played at the end of the season is not completely unfounded.

It is unfounded. We're given the same number of off-season practices, half the games are at our house, half are at their house.

Since the game you referenced the two schools have had 10 coaches and 5-6 different ADs. What's the correlation to that game 2 decades ago to any other season?
Is is something mystical about September? Do we just consistently hire coaches that don't work in the off-season?

It's pretty simple and already been stated... the one time the game was played after November 1st .... Tennessee won. It would be nice to have a larger sample size to see if there is a correlation.

I don't understand why every SEC season schedule has to look the same. Why not mix things up a little? For decades, Tennessee's schedule was unfairly top heavy... but then too soft in November. That is at least starting to change.
