Florida Having Trouble Selling Tickets

It's that way here in Florida.....If the teams aren't winning then the fans aren't coming to the games...And to think UF fans laugh at Miami fans for not showing up for home games....UF isn't much better when they aren't winning..typical bunch of bandwagoning New Yorkers for fans.

Hey now.....

so are many pro teams and any college team not at it's peak right now

its too easy to relax at home and watch it.

Lack of student attendance just sucks. We made a day and night of it.

Most rational post on this thread.

UF's student section has become SOFT over the past 3 seasons. The current senior class were all freshmen during Tebow's last season, and they're just flat out spoiled.

I've had season tickets since 1986, and I don't plan on giving them up...although I'll probably sit out the Jacksonville State and LA-Lafayette games.

I thought all UF fans were rednecks who wore jean shorts and Reebok basketball shoes....make your mind up.

Average team + Obama economy = empty seats

Yep. Plus as others have said. They do support, when their teams are doing good, with the exception of Tampa Bay, who never gets support. I was blown away, when the Marlins got a new stadium. Not like they will ever fill it.

Agreed. That's what happens when half of your state's population is full-time retirees and retirees from Northeastern states with timeshares. Seriously, look around Miami. They should rename it to South Boston.

I was born and raised in Florida and I can't stand the population in regards to fans. Dumbest in the country I think. There are a few of us that care regardless of winning. I care because I grew up watching the Dolphins, Marlins, and Magic. No matter where I am or how last season went I will be a fan of those teams. Tennessee is a different story.

I was also born and raised in Florida, and when it comes to fan support, the Bucs have the most loyal NFL fans, and UF has the most loyal college fan base.

UF sold out games going back to the 70s and my days as a student in the early 80s. Then again, there were no HDTV sets or 30 CFB games on every Saturday, and no smartphones with the WatchESPN app.

I remember also when Memphis St beat y'all but they have beaten us, USC and Bama before also.

I was born in Tampa. Bucs fans became loyal after they had a taste of success. Don't act like we don't all remember seeing that empty ass sombrero sitting there on Sunday afternoons. They have a great fanbase today, but to say that they are the "most loyal" is a stretch times 10.

Compared to Dolphins fans and Jags fans, it's hardly a stretch.

Memphis beat us my junior year in 1988. We lost to Vandy that season too if memory serves.

Emmitt got hurt and we had no Plan B on offense.

The stadium was still full.

That's like calling a peice of the crap the best smelling. It still stinks just not as much. I can't stand Tampa as a city of fan support. Not selling out playoff baseball is inexcusable.

Lions for most loyal NFL fans. The fact that team even survived in Detroit for this long is amazing in and of itself. Even when they sucked something awful, they still nearly sold out games.

I think UF will be alright. UF had a 137-game sellout streak (it was the 2nd or 3rd longest in the nation at the time), dating back to the 1989 season, just broken last year because FAU sent back 4,000 tickets like the day before the game. Despite that, UF still sold over 100% of their stadium's capacity last season.

UT hasn't exactly been filling the stadium recently either, even after reducing the number of seats:

2011
Scl-NR-Percentage of Cap-Average Per Game
UF - #13 - 100.58% of capacity - 89,061
UT - #44 - 92.37 % of capacity - 94,642

http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/2011/Internet/attendance/FBS_CAPACITY.pdf

2010
Scl-NR-Percentage of Cap-Average Per Game
UF - #9 - 102.22% of capacity - 90,511
UT - #32 - 97.39% of capacity - 99,781

http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/2010/Internet/attendance/FBS_CAPACITY.pdf

2009
Scl-NR-Percentage of Cap-Average Per Game
UF - #10 - 102.36% of capacity - 90,635
UT - #25 - 99.21% of capacity - 99,220

http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/2009/Internet/attendance/FBS_CAPACITY.pdf

2008
Sch-NR-Percentage of Cap-Average Per Game
UF - #9 - 102.25% of capacity - 90,544
UT - #26 - 99.42% of capacity - 101,448

http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/2008/Internet/attendance/FBS_CAPACITY.pdf

2007
Sch-NR-Percentage of Cap-Average Per Game
UF - #8 - 102.08% of capacity - 90,388
UT - #9 - 101.84% of capacity - 103,918

http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2007/Internet/attendance/IA_CAPACITY.pdf

2006
Sch-NR-Percentage of Cap-Average Per Game
UF - #9 - 102.10% of capacity - 90,409
UT - #10 - 101.64% of capacity - 105,789

http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2006/Internet/attendance/IA_CAPACITY.pdf

UT sells more tickets simply because their stadium is larger, but UT hasn't sold out its stadium for a season in 4 years.

Capacity has nothing to do with it when neither team is selling out. The cap isn't relevant ATP

I think the days of every home game selling out are over.

UF will be lucky to get 70,000 in the house when mighty Jacksonville State comes to town.

Same will be true for us though, especially when GA State and Troy come in. Can't forget those Akron Zips, either.

I won't be in for the Troy and Akron games, myself, but that's just because I ended up having other prior engagements that landed on those games. Thankfully, it was those games vs. another bigger home game.

No it wasn't....The sun has fried your memory...UF couldn't draw flies back in those days...I guess you don't remember the ARBYs promotion back then do you? :birgits_giggle:
