Florida-LSU thread

The team played a nice game, that is separate from the rest of the stuff the AD/coach/school concocted. The win does nothing to reverse that and the coach didn't help the perception. imo Rarely works out for a coach that can't handle the pressure.

The only people that had a problem with the comments were pissed off LSU fans lol literally nobody else gives a ****

A win this week and perception will be he beat 2 teams fla hasn't beaten in 4 years on the road and has the gators on the right track

Next thing you know we'll try to fire our coach for two consecutive years, and publicly go after a coach who's shown little interest in leaving Tallaha...err...wherever he might be coaching now.

What does that have do with anything? I am still confused why you and the coach are butt hurt. So confused.

They were told they were "scared to play LSU".

What reaction did you think they were going to have.

This didn't come from some yahoo fans on twitter. It came from the LSU athletic director himself.

Now, I am sure you have met competitive egotistical people in your lifetime.

That sort of thing.....I don't know.....pisses them off.

I know I was not amused.

If Alleva said that, post the quote and the source.

If he did say that, why didn't Florida play when it was scheduled? Or on Saturday night or Sunday?

The implication for over a month by a lot of LSU's fans and even some players were that UF tried to intentionally use the threat of a hurricane as a "convenient" excuse to avoid having to play LSU this year,

Didn't you yourself said something like they were dragging their feet so as to be able to say they were forced into a corner and intentionally leave the only option as not having to play LSU?

I didn't imply it, I said they didn't want to play the game... Tuesday/Wednesday morning before the game. It wasn't a secret. I'm not the AD, I'm not a representative LSU. Either way, still haven't really heard an explanation from the School, AD or the coach as to their side... well, at least one that makes sense. If the coach had an issue with LSU, why not say what it is? (to be honest, this was water under the bridge but since it was mentioned)

Still not sure what they are butthurt about, the got a great deal. If I were the AD, LSU would have played South Alabama on Saturday, but under the situation I could see where Alleva was in a position to agree to something. (again water under the bridge)

If the coach's opinion is that LSU did something wrong, I would think it would be important to actually say what it is, but hey whatever floats his boat. I'm so confused by exactly what the problem is.

I think McElwain made it pretty clear, did he not? He had a problem with the implication that Florida was "scared" or trying to get out of playing the game.

If he has a problem with by me and others stating they didn't want to play which I did well over 72 hrs before the game was scheduled, he could easily have explained it to the public. As far as LSU, they just said (paraphrased) that Florida had no incentive to play the game that week.

Telling the truth is just that... if he has a separate POV of the facts he had plenty of time to explain. With that said, I thought this was water under the bridge. Winning the game could have helped but the comment to me makes it seem the water isn't under the bridge. I find the whole thing quite strange.

Not to worry. Everyone that is not an LSU fan gets it, perfectly.

There isn't some grand conspiracy at work. Two sides had to come to an agreement that neither was going to he fully happy with. Maybe it's not fair to Alleva that some of his internal commentary leaked out, but it happened, and I'm sure UF used it as cheap motivation.

It is what it is, but it isn't complicated.

He wants it to be, in hopes that everyone will forget either that LSU fans/players/administrators suggested that Florida did not want to play LSU at all, or was ducking them for some reason in terms of rescheduling then.

Regardless of LSU's reason for making this about Florida trying to avoid the game, that sure backfired on LSU.

No, I didn't imply it, I said they didn't want to play, and which is why he is butthurt as he has no explanation. A win doesn't change the facts no matter how much he cries. It somewhat backfired (I agree there) on LSU as they should have never agreed to reschedule the game, as a business deal with a party which is not operating in good faith makes it virtually impossible for it to work out.

Saying "LSU's reason for making this about Florida trying to avoid the game", but that is what they were doing back then. Saturday was about football players playing football, which is what LSU attempt to do when the game was originally scheduled. I'm still confused as to what LSU did and was suppose to do. I mean, I can see you are upset, not sure why, certainly not sure why the coach is upset, they got a great deal.

Its not complicated I agree. One team wanted to play, was unable to play, stated they wanted to play. I'm not sure about "leaks" you are referring too, but you can word it anyway you want... they didn't want to play. They came to terms, which I would have never entertained but ole well... they agreed... water under the bridge.

Either way, I thought it was water under the bridge, not sure what they are mad about, they got a great deal. I agree its not complicated at all. The perception isn't going to change because a coach takes the low road... that rarely works for players let alone coaches or administrators. (wait till the fans turn on him, and they always do at some point but not my concern)

There is no way you believe any of this nonsense.

Alleva needs Aleve. He is the laughing stock of college football. Refused to play Sunday, trash talked to negotiate a better deal, struck a bad deal, got his team whipped, lost a popular coach, can't hire a replacement .... Where did you guys find this clown?
