Florida on Fire

With that schedule…I don’t think it looks good for him. We need him to win 7 or 8, but not have us be one of those 7 or 8. I would like to keep him around for a little bit .
You realize we just lost to a BAD Florida team coached by him right ? We will also be lucky to win 8 next year.

How do you get to be one of these top programs you speak of and their dominance?
Simple answer NIL $$$$$$$$$$$$

College football is forever changed. For the good? You tell me! Is transfer portal good or bad. Is NIL good or bad?

I'm 66 and 1/2 years old now. I DO remember when college football was more or less a pickup game between two schools and their students. It wasn't an NFL pre-school as it is today and nobody in it for $$$ (much along the same lines as the Rugby (non sanctioned by the schools) these days. NIL and transfer portal defiantly moved the "school spirit" index into the world of "I'm playing for me, not you". Honestly I liked the days when the bowl games meant something and the players didn't "opt out". Seems the concept of "team" is diluted, because if you were a good player and your team needed you, you wouldn't dare "opt out".

OK, I'm old and tired and by the way, while your at it, GET OFF MY LAWN!! (right?). (It's tough being a boomer)
I'm a crusty 75 & echo your sentiments, pt! Our lawns ARE sacred.

We got some good super senior players returning next year and the schedule is as good as it gets for Tennessee.

If we get our passing game and secondary back on track, 9 or 10 wins are in play with at OK, AL and at GA being our toughest games, probably underdogs in all of them.

KY, NCst at Charlotte, and FL are competitive games that we should win.

Barring a huge turn of events MissSt, at Ark, at Vandy, Kent St, UTEP and Chattanooga should be high probability wins.

Heupel's '21 class looks even worse. way way worse.

Only Jaylen Wright is still here from signing as a Freshman.

Milton, Hadden, and Turnage WERE the only three transfers still on from that team.

Its incredibly likely that we will not have a single 4th year player on our team next year who started their career at UT.
You mean the class that were Pruitt players essentially when he came in January 2021?

Christian Charles and DeShawn Rucker are still on the roster from that mostly wasted 2021 signing class.

I keep hoping Charles can help our Secondary if he can ever get/stay healthy.

Rucker has had injury issues too, and is mostly a Special Teams guy.

That’s just incredible and yet I constantly see people saying things like, “games against Bama and UGA are toss ups.” I’m not saying we can’t win, we’ve proven we can. It’s too early to be expected at this stage given we’re missing an entire recruiting class. We’re going the right direction though, that’s all I care about right now. Let’s get to beating Florida consistently before we start worrying about Bama and UGA.

Not in Neyland.
I actually agree. Although I’m afraid to even speak it out loud. Lol. They were there for the taking this year. Milton had a good start to the game, but then ultimately fell apart. The second quarter INT (that was returned inside the 5) totally changed the game. And it was the type play we’ve seen out of him too many times. That play demonstrates the reason I’ve felt the comparisons to JG were so accurate. Milton had terrible situational awareness.

The DT came on a power rush up the middle. It was that 400 pound dude that is slow as molasses. Milton saw him coming for about three seconds, but didn’t manage the distance/momentum or throwing lane. He timed his throwing motion poorly so that he was contacted before the ball was released which caused it to float up into the air. Crazy thing is the receiver was wide open as he was releasing the ball. Had he given himself a little more room (or slid left/right a step) it could’ve went as a TD for us.

Anyway, no sense and continuing to complain over spilled perfume. Unfortunately, we have to deal with him for one more game and then never again. Who knows how good we might’ve been this year had heupel worked Nico in at least 1 series per half? I think Nico would’ve immediately proven to be a huge upgrade just in his ability to throw accurate/catchable passes to open receivers the majority of the time. Also, Nico is much more like Hooker with his running ability and vision. We will be a much better team next year, and Florida will be worse. Plus, we get them at home.

I just think the Swamp gives UF a big advantage and Neyland gives us a big advantage. The difference in moving from one location to the other may be worth 10 points. Also, Heupel has already beaten UF at Neyland once, so the notion that we are jinxed doesn’t seem to apply at home.

We had some significant limitations in 2023 that we will move beyond in 2024…I think we see a much better year.

Sure must be nice to mitigate the home field advantage for UF and UGA every season.

If you're sensing much sarcasm and sass in my post, you are right.
