Tennessee on the way up. No wonder the gator fans on here are so worked up. We are currently 11th, fla is 21st. I also added a few tidbits from an article on espn:

Florida has lacked a dynamic playmaker since Percy Harvin in 2008. That is simply unacceptable for a program in a state the produces enough supremely fast and ultra-talented recruits to fill multiple FBS rosters.

So what has happened in recruiting? Let us take a look back at the players all three programs have signed between 2011 -- when Muschamp signed his first class at Florida -- and 2013. During that time, Florida signed 12 ESPN 150 players at either quarterback, running back, receiver or tight end. Six have transferred.

In 2012, when Muschamp brought in the first class he recruited entirely on his own, he stacked his defense with elite recruits. The only two ESPN 150 offensive players in that class outside the offensive line were two tight ends: Colin Thompson and Kent Taylor. They have both left the program.

Now take a look at what Florida State and Miami have done. Since 2011, Florida State has signed eight ESPN 150 players at the same four offensive positions. The Noles have hit on nearly all of them. Karlos Williams, Nick O'Leary, Rashad Greene, Kermit Whitfield and Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston are expected to be All-ACC selections or All-Americans. James Wilder Jr. was drafted a few months ago.

Muschamp has focused his efforts on building a strong defense, something Miami has lacked over the last several years. While the old adage is that defense wins championships, you need a little more than a rusted-out shell of an offense to win games in today’s era.

Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley is banking on a short-lived dip, a big reason why Muschamp still has his job. Most believe Florida will be better. But how much better? Foley is putting his faith in a man who has shown equal propensity to win big and lose big.

So the objective for Muschamp seems pretty simple. Improve the offense and win. But we are not talking about merely finishing with a winning record, no matter how good 7-5 looks right about now. Florida must once again flex its power in state.

Does anyone know if Zook is available?:whistling:

I'm believing that we are on the way up, but we've got to actually win one of these to really get over the hump. I am hoping that this is the year!

We forfeit the FSU game after losing to Eastern Kentucky?

Nice, but a forfeit still shows up as a loss? I thought it would be so bad the football gods acted like the game was never scheduled. That or the football program at UF disbands after said loss to Eastern KY.

Florida can be just terrible & play horrible until TN comes around. Then, all of a sudden, the bell goes off for Florida & they play us till we fold like a card table.

I think that's Clay Burton on the other end of that.

If you followed that player, you'd have to give Muschamp a pass on that one.

Trey

Sorry, didn't realize this was posted by a gator. Sarcasm? Or continuing the mistaken ridden gator posts of this thread theme? :)

Math is hard?

I just took a look at Idaho's depth chart, and I'm now predicting UF goes 2-10.

They have more playmakers than we do.

Yes, but the overwhelming defensive line talent mentioned in the OP couple with the rusted out shell of an offense will lead to a 0-0 tie that after 6 overtimes will be called due to lack of interest.

2-9-1

In keeping with the OP's premise, there is no historical information to suggest that UF can win the SEC and be nationally relevant at the same time FSU is nationally relevant.

None.

No siree Bob.

Gosh, how many threads have UT posters started this year about the end of the Florida program? At least 3... Try to talk some football and I'll be happy to join in. Like so...

The 2011 Urban Meyer-Will Muschamp transition classes was one of the worst recruiting classes in modern UF history. But that was a common theme under Meyer, who really didn't recruit at a high level on the offensive side of the ball after the end of 2009.

It was imperative that Muschamp have a good year recruiting on offense in 2012, and unfortunately, his OC left him high and dry that year, and that cost UF dearly that year.

The 2013 and 2014 classes have been MUCH better on that side of the ball, and I think that will show out this year.

That was definitely Clay Burton, and he might have been the worst starting TE in all of CFB last season.

Muschamp was channeling the entire UF fan base's rage over how badly Clay sucked compared to his brother.

Ah, is this an inside UF joke that you guys called him this or was there another Burton named Clay? Forgive my ignorance

Trey Burton. What did he do a year or so to us? Ran for a TD untouched for like 88 yards & it became a game changer in the gators favor.

You needed to read the whole post.

Clay Burton is the brother of Trey Burton. Clay Burton plays tight end and is/was horrible. He can't catch but he makes up for it with poor blocking and personal foul penalties.
