I suppose so, just seemed like a tone that laid all the blame at the players' feet. Perhaps I am reading it too cynically due to my frustration with tonight's game, if so my bad
It basically is the scoring margin of the two teams during the minutes a player played. So if Keon played the first 5 minutes and Tennessee was up 13-10 after those 5 minutes, Keon would be +3 at that point. But then if he checked in later and the other team went on a 9-0 run, he'd be -6 at that pointSorry guys what the + and -s?
Not so sure as he seems to have trouble finishing at the rim when he drives. He’s not the elite player I hoped he would beThanks for the stats . I feel like JJJ could be the real difference maker if he can elevate his scoring. We need at least 12-15 .I think he went for 20+ a few games ago. He's the most capable that's for sure. Really hoping he finds his offense . He could be such a weapon driving the basketball.
I agree with that, it blows my mind that D1 athletes ever can't get up for a game. But I also think "effort" is often the scapegoat to simply being outplayed and out-coachedHe did question their effort. I don’t know...I know a coach can do certain things to help, but I never needed encouragement to play hard in a pickup game much less if I was ever a D1 athlete. That should come from within them. I never wanted to lose.
We were definitely outplayed and outcoached. But you could see Florida just wanted it more. Tennessee got hit in the mouth early, and never seemed interested in responding. Our defense and rebounding were flat-out embarrassing. That's 100% an effort issue. That neutered version of Florida is not more talented than Tennessee, but they sure wanted it more, tonight.I agree with that, it blows my mind that D1 athletes ever can't get up for a game. hes the most athletic I think. If he's not scoring then usually his rebounding or defensive is usually on point. Idk, id rather him play the 1 spot more, maybe that will force him to be more of a factor on offense. Not so sure as he seems to have trouble finishing at the rim when he drives. Yeah can't argue with that. There are times effort is an issue, and tonight sure seemed like one, I'm just saying it is overplayed and its anytime we play bad in any sport its cause "We didn't want it as bad as they did." But yes tonight was ugly, some of the most poor body language I've seen from a Barnes team at UT (the real one)We were definitely outplayed and outcoached. He definetly has a few misses right now that hurt a lot. Although I'm curious to see what happens with our 5 stars. I think we lose Springer but keep Keon this off season. The problem is we don’t have anyone else to play. Barnes is going to have to find some more talent this spring and let some folks go.

Kind of bad when you think about it. Never at any point when a player came out did we have a positive result. Dominated at every point this game.+/-s
Keon -23 in 33 minutes
Yves -18 in 29
Fulk -16 in 30
Bailey -16 in 25
JJJ -13 in 13
Gaines -11 in 11
Santi -9 in 25
Uros -8 in 6
ON -7 in 9
EJ -6 in 15
Pember -3 in 4
Yup. While watching I thought Gaines provided just a bit of a spark, then I see him at -11 in just as many minutes. SighKind of bad when you think about it. Never at any point when a player came out did we have a positive result. Dominated at every point this game.
Hopefully they can fix some things. I feel this team can be special, I just hope they can mesh before March.
The lack of transition game is something I mentioned over the last several days somewhere. I'm shocked that with as athletic as we are and with as many passes that we affect that we don't get more opportunities in transition, or at least take advantage of them. I suspect that the idea that we struggle to finish at the rim and to handle the ball plays a role in those struggles.I think this team has to be a good 3 point shooting team by seasons end in order to be great. I think we’re capable there, but wildly inconsistent game to game right now. A few different broadcasters have said it, but we don’t get many easy buckets. Those become even harder if we can’t hit the outside shot.
One thing I’m really surprised with is the lack of a transition game. I thought we’d be able to run and gun some this year with a guard heavy team, but not sure we have anybody that can run the break effectively.
Lastly, I liked EJ’s effort tonight but I think we need to give all reserve post minutes to Olivier and hope he can develop into something by the end of the year. If we don’t find another option there off the bench idk that we’ll have the depth to make a run.
I couldnt have said it better. Particularly the part about Fulky and Barnes. 95% of the time someone for UT receives a pass, they don’t even square up and look to take to the hole. First thing they look to do is pass. Very overrated team, and zero leaders on the court.Straight ugly. Offense has to play better. The entire game plan is wrong. SV is a 2 guard, and shouldn't drive. JJJ is non existent. Faulky trips over his own feet. Pons has the ugliest shot. This team cannot score in transition. And Barnes 10 pass rule before shooting is out dated.
This. I've been saying this since game 1 . Barnes puts a lot of focus in the half court. There doesn't seem to be an emphasis on the transition game. Forcing a lot of turnovers, you'd figure we would have a lot of opportunities to score in transition. This team will get a steal then slow it down. SV is a huge liability at the 1 spot. If I'm Barnes, im coaching Keon as a 1. Keon is very fast, kinda reminds me of bone a little. We need a fast PG that will catch a defense sleeping while getting back. The lack of transition game is something I mentioned over the last several days somewhere.
