hes the most athletic I think. If he's not scoring then usually his rebounding or defensive is usually on point. Idk, id rather him play the 1 spot more, maybe that will force him to be more of a factor on offense.
JJJ cant disappear in games like he did tonight. Really didn’t even know he was out there

This. I've been saying this since game 1 . Barnes puts a lot of focus in the half court. There doesn't seem to be an emphasis on the transition game. Forcing a lot of turnovers, you'd figure we would have a lot of opportunities to score in transition. This team will get a steal then slow it down. SV is a huge liability at the 1 spot. If I'm Barnes, im coaching Keon as a 1. Keon is very fast, kinda reminds me of bone a little. We need a fast PG that will catch a defense sleeping while getting back.
Barnes has been playing him at the 1, probably with that in mind, but he is far too loose with the ball to be experimenting with that this deep in the SEC schedule, IMO. Thats a project for the offseason (and even then it will be less needed, as Kennedy Chandler will arrive)

Kansas hung with Baylor while Baylor was freaking shooting lights out.....WE WILL GET SCHOOLED BY KANSAS.
Hung with is generous, I watched that game and the score made it look closer than it was. Baylor and Gonzaga are on a whole other level than the rest of the country. If we don't, I hope Gonzaga takes the natty this year

The lack of transition game is something I mentioned over the last several days somewhere. I'm shocked that with as athletic as we are and with as many passes that we affect that we don't get more opportunities in transition, or at least take advantage of them. I suspect that the idea that we struggle to finish at the rim and to handle the ball plays a role in those struggles.
The lack of scoring in transition and slowing it down to run the 1/2 court offense, drives me crazy. We play too good on defense and force too many turnovers to not score more in transition.

I agree, except I'm putting Springer at PG. Keon is equally as lose with the ball as Vescovi and can't shoot well from outside. He is probably better suited at the 3 slashing to the basket like he did tonight, and getting to the line.

Barnes seems like the type of old school dad that if he caught you smoking cigarettes, he'd make you smoke the whole pack. Which is one of those ways that is like "Yeah that could work.....but I'm not sure letting the kid choke on all that smoke is a great idea".

That's kind of how I feel Barnes gets when he won't call timeout when the team is losing it, like "Suck in all that glorious cancer boys" Maybe let the kid hit the 2nd or 3rd cigarette and then be like "ok I think you get it now".

+3 in offensive boards and +14 in free throw attempts are the only positives I see. Considering how badly we shoot free throws, it actually may be a negative to win the free throw battle right now. There’s some inner demons that need to be exercised whenever it comes to the charity stripe because that has gotten out of hand. Need to be at minimum 75% to have a chance to win on a nightly basis.
Tennessee was 4th in the SEC in the FT department entering tonight’s game at 74.4%. As bad as we were tonight don’t call us bad in an area we have been solid.

Find a single positive from this stat sheet. Review the film one time, call out each and every crappy play and effort, then throw it in the trash and move on.

A really embarrassing effort, collectively. Keon and EJA played hard, but were too sloppy, themselves. Victor Bailey forces way too much. He has a place in the rotation, but he hurts the team when he feels like he has to initiate the scoring. Probably the lowest +/- of any player, tonight.

Significantly outshot from the field, from 3, and from the FT line.

First time all season we commit more TOs than our opponent.

Rebounding effort and execution was an embarrassment.

This team played with no pride, tonight. The effort and carelessness is inexcusable. Barnes didn't have his team in a proper mindset. He disappointed me, tonight, and I am generally quick to defend him. He did nothing to help his team, tonight, and looked like the lesser of the two coaches on a floor opposite of Mike White. That is, perhaps, the most damning evidence of tonight's failure.
The guys on the bench got a lot of play time tonight.

We're going to change our lineup? We put in Plavsic in the first half! We had Anosike, Pons, and Fulkerson on the floor together in the second half! Coach looked like he was trying to prove a point to his own team tonight. I guess he got what he wanted.

There’s something “off” with Fulky. Even games where he’s played relatively well he’s had low energy. He looks physically weaker this year which is saying a lot considering he wasn’t strong to begin with. Last year guys would get physical with him and he’d play through it and find a way to get it done. This year he shy’s away. Often loses the ball or almost loses it. He has very little lift in his legs and he’s lost some explosiveness. There were times tonight where he barely got off the ground, like he could barely keep his legs under him. I hope it’s nothing serious. Without the Fulky from the second half of this year, we are toast. He is our ONLY option in the post and right now there’s something just doesn’t seem right about him.

JMHO as always however i have seen nothing on the floor to think either can make it in NBA this next year!
Yeah but the NBA draft is very trait based, even moreso than say the NFL Draft. The Bulls #4 overall pick did not start his one year in college and averaged like 9 points and 3 rebounds, something around there

The problem I saw tonight is there was nobody to step up and everyone collectively played terribly. You can still win a game if 1 key player is having an off game, maybe even 2 players......but when seemingly EVERYONE is having a terrible night then this happens. Bailey had what will probably end up being his worst game at Tennessee. JJJ had a bad game. Fulk looked lost. Vescovi had one of the less bad nights and got hurt but he STILL is too sloppy with the ball and still has turnovers every game that seem very avoidable. Pons had foul trouble. It was like everyone was looking around and seeing everyone else was playing bad and it just zapped all energy and drive.
I thought the same. A collectively bad game by everyone, as you said. The results speak to that. I’m not sure it was poor effort so much as carelessness, mental mistakes, and poor shooting.
