Florida suspends 7 for Michigan game

Sorry, your players and coach are making it way to easy not to.

From an insider on the gator board.

Its a strange situation for sure. It could be very minor violations if Florida self-reports depending on what actually happened. And an ineligible player hasn't played.

Now, one bad potential issue that was brought to my attention is that since this might involve an NCAA investigation being that it involves scholarship funds, that by the time the NCAA gets around to adjudicating this, the season could already be over and the players involved may not play all year.

If the players were defrauding the school, I think the situation is then further complicated in.... why is the school not prosecuting... to me that would seem like a benefit or turning a blind eye type situation.... even worse a quid pro quo for the school-player.

The thing about this weekend's Michigan game really has little to no impact on Florida's season. This is even more true now that so many players have been suspended; they have a built in-- and rather reasonable by my estimations-- excuse.

Where I would be concerned, if I was a Florida fan, is the locker room dynamic. This much unrest almost has to cause friction in the team. It will be interesting to track wether the team friction leads to fractures and a possibly toxic lock room environment. Now that, could be a season runner.

To be completely honest, coming into this season I didn't have the highest expectations for Florida this season. I saw them as a 7-5 team that would be lacking in identity as compared to the past two seasons. Locker room tensions could possibly make things worse for the Gator faithful though.

You hit on a great point. If you are a gator player in this beat down coming, and you take all the slings and arrows that come with being part of that beating like a man. Then Callaway and the fun bunch suspended come rolling back into the locker room expecting to start and do start, laughing and joking around keeping it loose, are you ready to just overlook something like that???

Many different things...the 3 guys for being arrested probably won't be playing. 7 guys for at least byu....1 of those for quite a few games. A few of them are for team violations 6-8 months ago. A few other players in the dog house.

Expect many freshman to play saturday.

Well, you was correct. Hearing Coach O didn't release the suspensions untill an hour before game time.

McElwain said he hasn't heard anything on the nine players suspended and didn't have any sort of timeline on when they could return.

Among those players suspended are star running back Jordan Scarlett and receiver Antonio Callaway. The loss of both makes a major impact on the play-making ability on the roster.

"Still haven’t heard anything," McElwain said. "We’ll see. ... I haven't thought about it, only because I'll think about that when it happens."
