Does Florida have the best defense in college football? If not, which teams would you rank ahead of them right now?

I haven't seen one better.

Multiple NFL caliber corners
Physical, athletic LBs
Disruptive, freakishly athletic line littered with future NFL players

They good, they real good

Bama has had some really amazing defenses the last couple of years and I would put UF's up against any one of those.

If there is a better defense this year I haven't seen it.

Alabama has the best defense in the nation, again. To scientifically confirm just what an anomaly the TAMU odyssey was, statistically speaking: Alabama gave up 42 points to the aggies. BAMA has averaged giving up 4.75 points per game to everyone else. A difference of 884%.

With each passing game, BAMA continues to slow down the opposition much like a boa constrictor. Circling it's prey and slowly squeezing the life out of the victim. As the season progresses, the stats will eventually catch up with the eyes. In the meantime, believe the eyes.

When they have a schedule like Florida's, then they can talk.

Everyone's eyes except yours say that UF's defense is better.

The best defense in the nation doesn't give up 42, to anyone.

even if they are, don't let the gators around here hear you say that. They'll get big heads (as if they don't already lol)

Your presence on this board is an anomaly.

Giving up that many points to TAMU is lackluster defense

Well, TAMU doesn't get a rematch with the Gators this season, so it may come down to your opinion, slightly tainted by the Crimson glare.

I think it's Florida closely followed by Michigan State as the two best Ds in CFB. State's defense is unreal this year, which somewhat balances out their potentially program-worst offense.

4 of next 5 games vs top 25 teams, so we will see, but so far I would say yes -- would have loved to see a TAM vs UF matchup though

Tell that to O miss?

Giving up that many points is a product of Johnny Mayhem and his band of chaos. Lackluster D, would more aptly describe the consistent, inconsistent effort of a volunteer product. Kinda like that last, 4th quarter Georgia drive. Lackluster.

Can we try to stay on topic? 42 points is not something the best defense in the country would give up. Lackluster.

Over here, it's best to just go with word pictures.
Lackluster = Tennessee.

And giving up 42 points is something that a great defense would do. We did it.

42 points is the mark of a great defense nowadays? I guess Tennessee was a lot better last year than we all thought. We averaged greatness.

Your troll is showing. Nobody is talking about Tennessee. And I see you are the first to resort to insults.

You're touting your own team as having the best defense in the nation even though A&M torched them, and you're accusing others of being tainted? That's gold!

No, I would say the fellow in comment #9 and #11 went first. Oddly, he was the same fellow I was addressing the reply to.

That would make me a homer, not a troller.

I look at this greatest defense title as what will be when the dust settles at the end of the schedule. The data suggest that I have a strong argument. But it's only time that will tell the story.
