Interesting tidbits in this article. The comments from Zaire are pretty telling on what his feeling is. Bet hes pissed he went to UF right now

“Obviously, it’s not ideal,” Zaire said. “I don’t think anybody in the quarterback room wants that. But at the end of the day, you just got to do what Coach wants. I feel like Coach should be confident enough to stick with a guy and be able to roll with that guy because that’s best for the team. When you have all these quarterbacks, you still have none at the end of the day.”

I doubt Malik Zaire is qualified to know what's ultimately best for the team, because at times what's best for the team might not be best for him personally. That's difficult to reconcile when you're in the middle of it all.

Personally I think Mac is playing mind games, and has a pretty good idea of who will start against Michigan.

Honestly who knows what the kid was sold to come to UF. As far as Mac playing mind games. You think they would still be rotating 1st team reps 3 ways just to play mind games? Add to that one of the 3 qb's is obviously pissed about not being named the starter yet. I guess Mac could just be really busy right now getting attorney's and bondsmen set up for the rest of the season.

What exactly is the deal with Franks? He was extremely highly recruited. Is the thinking that he just isn't as good as people thought? He isn't being developed like he should be? Both?

I know he's young, but I would think that if he is or is going to eventually be an impact player he'd have a stranglehold on the starting job by now, and probably at some point last season given the lack of talent Florida has had at that position.

This really hasn't been a good fall camp for McElwain between the suspensions and either a real or perceived confusion at QB.

You have the memory of a goldfish.

I'm not insulting you. I'm just passing along what Del Rio said about the Gator fan base. :)

That's my bad...I quickly forgot that any perceived bad news about UF football should be taken as proof our football program is imploding. :)

My attempt to bring an alternative viewpoint was an insult to you and your entire family.

It won't happen again.

Pretty sure he was sold on uncertainty at the QB position with Del Rio's health and Franks' ho hum performance in the spring game.

And based on accounts from those who have seen all three practice, Zaire is the last person who should be questioning the coaching staff.

Del Rio has a chip on his shoulder because UF fans aren't all that thrilled about his upside.

Zaire is calling out the coaching staff in the media.

Franks has been silent.

Take all that for what it's worth.

I'll be surprised if all 3 QBs play against Michigan.

I haven't really kept up, but is it because they are better than expected and nobody is outshining the other or because they suck so bad it's hard to find the least smelly turd?

Considering Del Rio is still in the mix, I lean towards the least smelly turd theory.

If that theory is true, then I expect Franks to start against Michigan, with Zaire coming in as a change of pace if needed.

I reserve the right to be 100% wrong about all this.

After watching this video today I'd be shocked if it wasn't Zaire. Yes I know a pass isn't thrown in the video, but it's clear during the dumb song in the beginning and very clear afterwards who is the magnetic leader that the team gravitates too.

Their fanbase are at the moment pitchforking Zaire. All the FL reporters saying he can't beat out Del Rio and will be 3rd string.

Like I said, Zaire is the last of our QBs who should be openly questioning the coaching staff.

Take that for what it's worth. :ninja:

Let me start by saying "this isn't a troll post..."

But I thought McElwain was supposed to be a QB guru?

You can't make chicken salad out of chicken $h*t. Find me the coach who can make Treon Harris a serviceable QB, and I'll proclaim that coach to be the greatest of all-time.

Muschamp's shortcomings with respect to evaluating offensive talent...and Will Grier's judgment...left Mac in a tough spot.

Del Rio's limitations were well documented last season...knows the game and the playbook, but his arm was limited before he injured his shoulder.

Franks looks the part, but I can't get past his average performance in the spring game.

I've said my peace on Zaire...

Thankfully we've got Corrall lined up for 2018, along with several stud receivers. If our recruiting class holds up, and we have a respectable offense in 2017, Mac will be just fine.

Okay, LW, let me rephrase.

Mac doesn't exactly seem to have a good track record with picking and choosing QBs, especially grad transfers. I mean, Franks came out of HS and should have been beating the brakes off everyone on that roster after an RS year. And maybe Mac is pulling a fast one and the kid is a Heisman contender by week 4. But...it does give me pause for thought.

Yeah, it's looking more and more like the Gators are just trying to tread water at QB until Corrall gets there. I would say good luck, but I would be lying

Heh, no man, no offense meant. Just found Del Rio's wording funny. The memory of a gold fish. :)
