Watching the Miracle at South Bend (lucky all our neighbors were Vol fans or gone or the cops might have been called) only thing better would have to been there in person

You beat me to the punch, jr. Was watching the game by myself at home, sorta bummed out until the comeback began. Called a friend who lived around the corner when the Vols were storming back and asked if he was watching (he's a Wolverine fan by the way). He said hell yeah and come on over. As the game ended with a field goal blocked by a Volunteer posterior I went to give a high five to another friend who I thought was a Memphis fan only to have him ignore me. My Michigan buddy (who also hates Notre Dame) informed me he is a confirmed Irish fan. One of the greatest days of my simple life!!!

He seems to just come across wrong and after the 'Bama case it just leaves a bad taste. If you can't beat them...turn them in. That is a bad precedent in football to try to start.

I don't know why this myth persists. Fulmer had NO problem beating Bama. At the time of the NCAA stuff, he had just reeled off 5 or 6 in a row and had (still has) a solid winning record against Bama. It most definitely was not a case of "can't beat...turn them in".

That's right! Not to mention, check out the record against the Dawgs over the past 10-12 years. Funny a Georgia fan is worried about the poor, poor pitiful bammers.

I think it is more his personality rather than his coaching ability. He seems to just come across wrong and after the 'Bama case it just leaves a bad taste. If you can't beat them...turn them in. That is a bad precedent in football to try to start.
As far as turning post into a Fulmer thing...it was a joke....don't take everything so serious. Have a bud light and relax.

that wasn't me talking about the Fire Fulmer thread....i thought it was funny...

and i'm not even going there on the Bama stuff....i think how those trials turned out speaks for itself about whether or not Fulmer was unjustly raked over the coals...only thin i will say, he wasn't the only one to bring that stuff to the table....

I never cease to be amazed by the criticism of Coach Fulmer's courageous action in the Memphis scandal.

I think the 98 Arkansas game. Fans were filing out of that stadium faster than the SC game this year. Then by an act of God, Arkansas fumbled. We recovered. We scored. We won. We went on undefeated.

One UT fan shouted at those trying to run back in "We don't need you! Go home! You left and don't deserve to see the rest of the game!"

The weather was miserable that night. Rain, some wind, and cold! My loser brother in law went to the car in the 3rd quarter because he "was cold". And he wasn't alone. I'd say some 1/3 of the crowd had left before the end. Divine Intervention!

Rag-arms finest moment!

Being serious though, it was a great game in a disappointing season.

yeah, i think that's what's keeping it out of the running...great game, but when you think back on fondedst moments...you tend to think of defining moments....beating Aub when #1 w/Bo Jackson...beatin ND at SB in 91, Beatin Miami in 86 Sugar, beating VA in 91 sugar...beating FSU in 99 Fiesta, beating OSU in 96 Citrus...and others obviously....beating Bama in 95, beating UF in 98 and 01...

You mentioned the 1996 Citrus Bowl, which was a great game against a supposed unbelievable Ohio State team.

When I argue that game with the locals up here they say the only reason Tennessee won was because we used illegal cleats.

Talking about reaching for straws!

OrangeEmpire mentioned the first half of the Florida game in 95. I have never felt so sick after a game that that one. The only roadblock in what would have been an undefeated season. :banghead: :yuck:

Which makes it even sweeter, some would argue. Remember those "Afraid of the Dark?" shirts and all the smack talk from LSU after Tennesseeans complained about the date and venue for the game? Now, we had arguably the worst season in modern Tennessee history and a losing record, yet are the one team preventing the Bayou Kitties from a NC shot.

Priceless, if you ask me. Priceless. :thefinger:

It just seems like that it never happened after going thru the rest of the season, but it was an instant classic

37 years of sitting in the same seat in section B. All the road games and bowl trips. Just priceless lifelong memories. I wouldn't change a thing from the past. We've made great friends. I Love the BIG ORANGE NATION. It's the greatest family to be a part of.
