Food and stuff in Atlanta

Also, if you choose the Marietta Hyatt, and like Sushi, check out Ru San's on the corner of Windy Hill and Cobb Parkway. Unbelieveable sushi menu along with the traditional Japanese staples (Teryaki chicken, tempura, etc).

Thanks for that one. Wife loves Sushi and we'll be staying there next month. This sounds like a great way for me to get some easy points w/ the wife.

Vol fans who would prefer sushi to steak, ribs, burgers, etc... should have their license to wear the power "T" suspended until they see the error of their ways....
:shades:
OK then :) I'll let you wear my Power T until your early demise related to coronary artery blockage. :p

Sushi does a body good. Provided the fish you are eating is not toxic.

And, BTW, Ru San's offers fried shrimp rolls, so you don't have to eat raw seafood!

Yeah, it's just down the road - easy trip. It's in a corner strip mall right next to Folks Restaurant, which I do not recommend.

Can we have another national championship before I kick the bucket? Come to think of it, in exchange for an NT, I'll gladly belly up to the sushi bar...

I had an Asian friend take me to a couple of nice asian restaurants, very inexpensive and good. There is a Asian area in Atlanta you might want to try.

If you want an experience along with incredible food, head for Fogo de Chao. It's a Brazilian steakhouse on Piedmont in Buckhead.

Those Brazilian steakhouses are sometimes a little pricey. GAVol must have deep pockets :)

When there's beef involved . . . you're darn tootin'! I was going to recommend Bones, but that place will break the bank.

Gavol ordering, "Bring me the head of pig, and a Goblet of wine. Have someone fiddle for me." :)

As I mentioned to Hatvol a few days ago, next time you are in Vegas, go to Stripsteak in Mandalay Bay. If price is no option, you will be in beef and steak heaven.

They offer both American and Japanese grades of Kobe Beef, a Kobe Beef Burger, and of course the more pedestrian Angus beef.

Last time I was there I had the bone-in filet mignon (Angus). Unbelievably tender, and not ruined with butter like at Ruth's Chris

If you want something to do, go for a tour of the Sweetwater brewery (http://www.sweetwaterbrew.com/about.asp?section=tours).

Unfortunately this is pretty much a Tech frat-boy event these days. I can't recommend this anymore unless you're 25 or under and don't mind a crowd.

The best beer bar in the Atlanta area is the Brick Store Pub, out in Decatur. Fantastic selection of well-poured beers, and worth a drive from anywhere in the area if you appreciate that sort of thing. They've even got a whole bar upstairs devoted to hard-to-find Belgian ales. Some of the Mellow Mushrooms have an excellent beer selection as well. Unfortunately your beer-drinking options downtown are thoroughly mediocre.

I do most of my drinking at Fado Irish Pub in Buckhead, since I live in the area. It's a very nice pub, but will probably be horrendously crowded this weekend with everybody in town for the tournament. The cab drivers seem to send everybody there. Still, it'll be nice during the afternoons and early evenings before it fills up.

You ain't lyin, sir. Love the Brick Store Pub. Also have an exquisite collection of single-malt scotches, if that's how you run. Excellent food to go alongside the beverages, too.

That is indeed how I run, though I tend to do my scotch-drinking in my own house these days. Just a wee dram or two when we're in there; you combine scotch with all that Belgian ale and you're likely to have a cloudy morning the next day.

The Brick Store is so good it would almost be worth moving to that area, just to be a regular there. Unfortunately, the wife works up towards Windy Hill and it would take her forever to get to work from Decatur. Ah well.
