Food plants catching on fire

Nope.

Usually you are in on the principal of the matter when it comes to the government, is this a new found broad laisse faire attitude or a specific case of the mehs?
That's a good question. A fair one, too. You're right. I tend to be on the principle of restricted government. I have thought about your question since I looked at your reply early this morning. Here's why/where I have deviated from my norm wrt this issue:
1. I have accepted there are areas where my principles are in tact but I have grown accustomed to relaxing the application. An example is the destructive capability of our military. In principle, I do not want to the government to have that much destructive power over us but I have faith the power will not be used on American citizens. American spy agencies leering at us through our computer cams is similar to me.
2. My principles get more firmly rooted when there is evidence the government is using its unique position to gather data on citizens in a way which tramples on our rights. An example of this is the government collecting data on the Waco sect and burning the group to ash. This theory on web cam spying has yet to trample on our rights in such a way to bring harm. No evidence means it is more meh...and/or remains a theory.
3. I have agreed to erosion of my privacy for convenience with both government and big business. I like that google tracks my movement and sends me a report because it makes it easier come tax time. I voluntarily filled out the TSA precheck to expedite my airport wait when I was travelling a lot. I suppose, since i have already given up elements of my privacy, I am not worried about some spy agency watching me via my cam.
4. Lastly, the sheer scope of the spying is astronomical. There's got to be 600M + cell, desktop, and laptop cameras the population are in front of everyday. And we are in front of those for hours each day. That is an inconceivable amount of data to put eyes on. I feel unconcerned because of the "safety in numbers" aspect.

Well put. Wasnt really questioning you, just wanted more info that you have provided.

For the safety in numbers bit I would think it would be pretty easy for them to have an AI script that listens for key words or phrases, or activities before it goes to a live person.

I understand your privacy argument. But it irks me that we are offered no alternative. If there was a more expensive "privacy" option I would take it. It's one of the reasons I never got into apple, even though they used to protect you from the government they were much more intrusive as a business than their competition. I think the competition has caught up now, but there being no alternative doesnt mean I accept it any more. And for me it's the idea of the home/personal devices being watched. Work computer is fine, I have waived a good bit of my privacy rights with work. But at home, that's supposed to be my space where I dont have to worry about my privacy.

There is no doubt a program identifying key words is working in the background. It is already the case for our phone conversations.

I've really enjoyed the convo.

Yep. Every single food plant that has caught fire or been hit by a plane is just a “coincidence.”
Have you even read the details of what actually happened in most of these? Abandoned warehouses, local butcher, small Cessna in bad weather, fire with no damage, etc. Someone is playing you

Just another coincidence.

Theres a flour plant that looks identical to that one in the town where I live. I actually zoomed in on the picture to make sure it wasn't the same one. It burned a few years ago as well. Turns out some homeless guys were living in it and their campfire got away from them. Fire was controlled in time to save the building and it has been restored into office and retail space. It's a beautiful building now.
