Footage of Ferguson

Sounds to me like ferguson is indeed the go to guy when he's healthy. Dobbs would've never got that start if it wasn't for that now we know for sure.

Nah, saving that extra year with the redshirt. Good strategy. The job is still Worley's to lose though.

So if Ferguson was so good in practice, why didn't he start or even take over in the 2nd half of the Florida game?

In our minds the QB that has never played is always the best. Many times they are flops excluding Peyton. :lolabove::)

Was just reading that, myself. Very interesting. Wonder how often recruits are wooed with video of the "backup" QB?

AV
Goog grief. :loco: It wasn't the coaches "Wooing" him with backup QB footage. It was them ATTEMPTING TO ALLEVIATE HIS CONCERNS about the QB position.

"They've got a couple of guys pushing to be the main guy," Malone said of Dobbs, Riley Ferguson and Justin Worley. "I've seen lots of film on all the guys and I really feel that they're talented and I'm confident going into that situation."

This is what Malone actually said. That is VQ "insider" sources saying it was the RF film. VQ "sources" have been on the RF bandwagon. Seems like they showed him all the qbs footage and he was sold. They are the same "sources" who said RF was the back up when Dobbs had passed him up.

I'm pretty sure the only reason Dobbs "passed him up" is because Ferguson had a fractured leg.

Not the case. Where do people get their info?

In warmups, Peterman appeared to have the weaker arm of them all. Worley with the strongest. Dobbs puts too much damn air under the ball. Reminds me of Scotty Hopsons 3 pointer.

However, Fergurson's arm does look very strong for a Freshman. I just hope he doesn't turn out like another highly recruited NC QB I remember.

As long as he don't have 4 different offensive coordinators over the next 5 years I don't think he will be like Crompton. Sanders to cut to the clawfense to cheney. I believe if we had some stability Crompton could have been a great qb. At least he had a good senior season with Kiffin .

I hope Ferguson is as good as we hope. However, I am not as impressed about his HS tape as many on here. It's fine, but he's off target a lot. His receivers also looked much bigger and faster than the competition. I hope his college tape is more impressive against much better competition.

Ferguson does not have the wheels Dobbs has, and with the receivers that will be running down the field he won't need a huge arm (Andy Kelly). But you DH's running down Dobbs need to stop it, he is a great kid, ambassador, helps team GPA and he is all VOL! Let the coaches pick the QB and you support their pick along with every other player on the f---ing team damn! GO VOLS!

---and how the he11 could you possibly know that Ferg wouldn't have gotten the start, please tell me coach!

A magical document called the depth chart, and the fact that Dobbs didn't even make the travel squad for the Florida game... Dobbs was the 4th string qb who got to play because everyone else was hurt, and he looked like a 4 th string qb.

This magical depht chart document had JD 2a and RF 2b. Its known that RF went only because JD simulated Driskell on the scout team. Neither was gonna play that gamr no matter what. RF did the normal game plan. Other games that was reversed. At no point has any official depth chart had Fergie ahead of Dobbs. Why will people not accept known facts?

That was what I was hearing before Dobbs went in at Bama. I was surprised to see Dobbs go into that game because I thought it would be Ferguson. Then, I heard CBJ later allude to the fact that Ferguson was actually injured.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him under center at the beginning of next season. Nonetheless, I am still stoked!!!

GO VOLS!!!

Yes, brilliant move by Jones. He doesn't play Ferguson only so Malone thinks he's the next great quarterback. If he played him then Malone would realize the truth. Plausible deniability. Semper Fi.

When ferguson beats out Dobbs, I hope you don't have a mental breakdown. Dobbs was 4th string. Accept it or not. He also looked like a 4th string qb, so I hope that ferguson is a better qb because if not then Worley will start again next year. Dobbs was not very impressive 6 int 2 tds 59% completion rating and your calling for him to be the starter?

I'm just putting the facts. The Rf guys are the ones on some ones sack. They are ignoring what the coaches and the player say but take what a "source" says as gospel. The op couldn't wait to take an anonymous quote and start a thread about RF being the reason Malone chose us. Malone himself said it was all the qbs.

Has it ever occurred to you that Malone has spoken to people off camera?

Its known that Dobbs simulated Shaw that week on the scout team. RF ran the gameplan. That was the reason that week. CBJ wanted to RS both. So him warming up didn't mean he was no 2 only that he did the gameplan that week. It was reversed for other games. If Worley would have been done for the year Dobbs would have been the qb.

That's right. Marvin the Martian said the same thing.

No hate. He just can't throw it as well.

In reality I don't think the coaches handled Dobbs very well or had good game plans for him. He seemed to always have a lot of pressure on him. Difficult to make good throws when the defense knows what you're going to do.

:If RF plays, I hope CBJ allows him to wear long sleeves. them ugly tats though... :crossfingers:

Let's say Ferguson has a great arm, but what the hell good does a good arm do if the second you get hit by a linebacker or a safety and you look like humpty dumpty by leaving your entire leg on the field. It's one thing for a QB to break a thumb during a tackle or by hitting a helmet in game, it's another thing when a QB is sitting on the sidelines in a cast from a stress fracture when he hasn't even taking a single snap in a game.

Add some stress fracture to your pocket presents.

Do we know how Fergy's injury happened?

In fairness, it was once again local sports media fueling that fire before taking it back. They know the controversy and....they're not afraid to use it to up ratings and clicks.

Talk about a great way to sow division and self-destruct a team...

And this sums up UTs '12 season, and why I'm so adamant Vol fans realize it. If it doesn't we will never get the continuity that is needed to bring UT back to the top where it belongs. Even this site benefited from the team plummeting during the Gruden fiasco last season.
