For 1 NCAA title, What would you trade?

I don't think UT's athletic departments are required to release an itemized budget.

but in your post you listed specific expenses that appear on the ledger for the men but not the women. How would you know that if they don't release the numbers?

So much for all you people that said Pearl isn't bringing more money to the university. :eek:lol:

Forbes listed the value of the program at $14.1 million with a profit of $8.6 million.

Yea.... UTs making out pretty well on that salary.

We need something to compare that to (i.e., what did it look like in the 10 years prior to Pearl); otherwise your statement means nothing.

While I understand where the question is going, I think a better worded question would be: Would you rather have a football or a basketball championship? Or: Would you rather have a men's championship or five women's championships in a row? Trading stuff we already have is kind of silly. While I don't care that much about the women's program, there's no reason to denigrate them in this fashion. They absolutely do a lot for the university.

I will say though, that I have gotten to the point where I am starting to care about UT basketball just as much, if not more than, UT football. Various occurrences have brought me to this realization, but I think the biggest one was when I watched the UT-Memphis basketball game at a bar in CNN Center and then walked across to the Georgia Dome to attend the Peach Bowl, and found myself caring far less about the football game I was attending than I had about the basketball game that I was watching on TV.

I have seen a report that breaks down ticket sales, concession sales, merchandise, etc. as compared with expenses. This was a couple years after Bruce got here, and it showed us operating at around a $1.5 million budget surplus and the Lady Vols operating at around a $500,000 loss.

It might have been in the paper; I'm not sure.

what do you mean by parking garages? Pretty sure UT Bball is not the only one's who use them.

Look at the numbers on the link you asked for. The costs are on there. If the women had to pay for half the garage use to the University, they would be about 550,000 in the whole.

that's fine just want to see it. You just keep throwing around so many insults about the women's team I figured you had all the facts available to you. Guess I was wrong

I saw that too, wish I could find it.

I don't see how that in particular is an insult. Women's sports do not make money, its just how it is. I think they do in Europe though, if that makes you feel better.

Give me a break. I made one comment about the men having more room in Pratt without the Women's Program ,and wasn't even being serious about it.

I worked in the athletic department for years and it is a fact while I was there that not one single woman's sport generated a profit.

UT Football has a line item expense to make up for the Lady Vols Athletic Department losses - crazy, but true.

I heard this question asked and it really made me think.

Would you give back all the Lady vols titles for 1 mens title?

would your forfeit 5 football seasons?

would you fire pat summit to win a title?

Maybe I am wrong but, I think most of are so hungry and passionate about Pearl and our basketball program we would consider the above.

Really?

I think any sensible fan would trade every single win you have ever had in women's bball, and in fact disband the program and wipe its existence from history in exchange for a single appearance in the men's Final Four.

No,
NO
No

And I would not sell my soul to the devil either. I think it will be super sweet when the men earn one...its better to earn it, than trade all of Pats hard work, for one title...esp since UT has cared less about basketball...were a football school..or at least used to be
