It was the way the press conf. went. He gave us the perception that he had his man, or he had a clue who that man was. The two he publicly went after both said no. It seemed to me that he was being arrogant. All he had to do was mention that Tennessee was interested and they would jump at the chance. When both said no, it appears, he looked around to see who was left. He had over a month to convince his men that they should come here. I know that I'm not going to sway anyone, I just get more than a little offended when some on here describe me as a hater when I've been a fan for over 40 years.
Read this article.

Minus the last one, that's top 25 recruiting classes every year. With 3 top 5 classes in there. Yeah, his recruiting was really that bad.
One problem I have with the hire of CBJ is that he has a much lower winning percentage than his predecessor, Brian Kelly. Kelly winning % is 74.535 whereas CBJ is at 64%. Plus CBJ did not do as well at Cincy as Kelly.
I would venture to say that this critical post will get me flamed so go ahead and flame away.
I guess I'm a hater, but Hart could have gotten a better coach, he just screwed the whole search up by keeping Dooley too long and, when he did fire Dooley, once again UT got shot down by some big names and subsequently was sent scrambling for a good but not great coach. This article did nothing to sway my opinion of Butch. He's just gonna have to prove it to me and many, many others on the field.
I still don't understand why, if you're not overjoyed with this hire, you're a hater. Aren't we all Vol fans? Some of us feel a little jaded by the way process went down. We\me that are supposed "haters" saw Hart sit on his butt for a month and went after who was left. He (Jones) might be the greatest coach to ever grace the Vol sidelines, but I for one remain sceptical until I see some results. Rewind this to three years ago. Were we all in for Dooley? If not, were we haters then too? I'm not going to buy into anything sight unseen. I remember the excitement that preceeded Kiffin. We were all in. Now fast forward to today. In the words of Roger Daltry....I "won't get fooled again".

this article is taking a shot at the Vol fan base because we want to be a competetive program. nice. also, Fulmer got lazy in recruiting and let the SEC catch up and pass him by in every aspect of the game. no sympathy for him, only gratitude for his accomplishments. i like CBJ. we do need his attitude, enthusiasm, and confidence. he needs a national stage to prove that he has the ability to be a national champion. that part of the article, i agree with. its just not because we need everything now. we just need a good coach to believe in.
Like the hire or not, he is our coach for the next 3 years minimum, and hopefully many more which means he's winning. Jury's out on him for at least a couple of years. I'm prepared to let the man do his job, support him until he doesn't deserve it any more, and pull for him to be the coach who turned the Tide.

Not a true fan.:rtfm:I agree. However, due to his lack of D1-A "major program" experience (sound familiar???), I refuse to buy into the Jones Soda stock any more than I bought into the Doolaide stock Hamilton was trying to sell VN.
GBO............ despite Hamilton, Hart, Cheek, Dooley, Kiffin, or Jones!
