For All Those Hyping Billy Clyde

Is this a hedge of your fandom against your accepted knowledge as a basketball expert? In other words, will you be rooting against your own bet?

I just find it hard to bet on my arch rival and against my own team.

When I joined the Fire Fulmer camp, largely because I didn't think we'd ever win another SEC title with him, I didn't start making bets against him to do it.

I have laughed at enough of your posts to know how you view KY, but still, will you be rooting for them to succeed so you can later collect on it?
What I do or don't root for is irrelevant. Billy Clyde and Tom Davis, Jr. will have certain career arcs. What I hope happens won't have a single bit of effect on them.

Do know anything about UKs PG situation. They'd trade straight up for maze right now and giggle all the way to the bank.

They make the worst turnovers I've ever seen, but maybe you'll have another reason why.

Of course, this may not pass the old eyeball test, but UK's point guards are averaging one more assist and one more turnover than UT's. I will say that after looking at it more closely, UK's PG's are worse than I thought, but I just don't see the vast divide between the two that you do. Are our PG's better? Yes. Dramatically better? Not even close? No.

I think it's relevant, because you bleed orange and bet on KY.

FWIW, when Pearl was hired, I worried that the best we'd ever see was something close to Tom Davis. That might be true, but I'm not placing a wager against UT's program.

It obviously will have no effect, but I think it's still a valid question. Would you be happier seeing CBP achieve a high level of success at UT or be vindicated for all of your Billy Clyde praise?

There's absolutely nothing valid about the question. Anyone who can't ascertain who I root for has severe reading comprehension issues.

I just think it is very telling that Kentucky's highlight for the last two years under BG has been beating UT. I can remember when UT's highlight of the year was beating the BIG BLUE. If you like BG, that is fine. I hope he weathers the storm this year because Kentucky could do much better. I would not trade the Pearl for the Billy Clyde.

If seasons like this were to become the norm for BCG at UK, there are a lot of people on here who would have a lot of fun with you over it. :)

If CBP were to take UT to a Final Four in the near future, someone would dig up the thread that you made the bet in. :eek:hmy:

Someone would also dig up the one in which you predicted/bet that CBP would be gone by I think the 2010-11 season, or something close to it. :ermm:

Your reputation as an expert in this field would take a playful hit. :birgits_giggle:

There really is no middle ground here. You're trying to bet on the Cats/BCG.
I question CBP too, but I'm not placing a wager against him.

So, please, humor us, and tell us who you're with:

1) BCG/UK

2) CBP/UT

I just want to hear it.
:clapping:

I'm with UT. As I explained a million times regarding Fulmer, just because I have no use for a particular coach doesn't mean I root for the team to fail.

And most intelligent people can see and respect that. Most of us on this board bleed orange and want UT to succeed. What makes the board interesting is that many of us also disagree on how to get to that successful level.
