For All Those Hyping Billy Clyde

Since people are so fond of bets it seems, how about this one: CBP wins more NCAA games in his first 4 years at UT than CBG at KY. I'm guessing CBG can catch up on his 0 in the first two years with that title team he'll have next year.

Why not simply bet who wins more in the next four years?

I think the problem many have on this board with Hat's and BPV's lovefest with CBG and not with CBP is that Billy Clyde took over a program with 16 straight NCAA appearances (granted, in decline under Tubby) while Pearl took over a program devoid of NCAA appearances in the last four years under Buzz. Yet each time CBG fails, it's wait until the future (lol @ national title contender next year by the way), and each time CBP fails, it's, see, we told you so and he'll be gone in 2-3 years. Pearl outperformed Billy G. in his first two years @ UT and continues to outperform him regardless of the head to head so far.

Who said Pearl is going to be gone? I say CBG coaches the way that wins Big games. CBP doesn't. Thius far, the records aren't comparable. I also think the talet level at the two programs is out of whack. Regardless of the tourney appearance drivel, KY has had no talent. The annoying side of that is tar they have dominated us over that time as we had some of our best teams ever.

Nobody can argue the results thus far. I'm her curious to see the first all CBG team compared to this first all CBP team.

Yeah, his great coaching shredded that UF zone that UT's horrible coaching demolished. His great coaching won big games against the worst team in the SEC and a weak UF team with the tourney on the line. In the SEC CBP won more big games in his first two years than CBG. When you're predicted national title hopes for UK next year, you're reaching.

Your mixing apples and oranges. I'M has no PG play whatsover. None. Nobody wins like that. I'm tlking about coaching defense ad intensity, plus recruiting the guys who'll play that way.

UK will be stout next season, regardless what you want to believe.

And UT's point guard play has been stellar this year? UK may be much better next year, maybe even a Sweet 16 team, but they won't be in the national title conversation. There's no guarantee Patterson and Meeks both come back either.

Dramatically better than UKs. It's not even close.

Patterson and Meeks are coming back and they'll be in the title conversation.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but anyone who believes that BCG has done anything but suck at coaching this year has just not been paying attention. The Big Blue has underperformed against a below average schedule. Some posters on this thread were touting how good Liggins would be at the end of this season. He couldn't even start ahead ahead of Porter, and Liggins was a BCG star recruit. I can see no excuse for some of the losses Ky has had this year. This year BCG has seemed very Houstonesque.

Once again proving why the average Kentucky fan should not engage in cerebral machinations.

Hat, I will actually agree with you that he is a great coach. I really just don't see the UK gig working. I think that A, he leaves under pressure. Or B, Mitch chokes up and fires him.

I don't think that BCG will be given the chance to prove himself at UK. If half of the Big Blue faithful want him gone already, then I can't imagine them being patient enough to start over next year without Meeks and Patterson.

My point exactly, UK won't give him the time.
