For or against Penn State?

The current players, coaches, admin people etc, had nothing to do with what went on. Why should they be punished ? I would like for the ones that covered it up to do time in jail where they can develope some insight and empathy for victims of sexual abuse by on the job training. Let the courts handle this stuff - the NCAA should have other things to do . Some hefty sentences and million dollar payouts to victims will teach these vermin the error of their ways.

Do I feel bad for the players? Yes. Absolutely.

Do I feel bad for the fans? Nope. They enabled the culture that let the PSU power enable Jerry Sandusky and did nothing.

Perhaps they're a different fan base in that they continue to defend to the death a man who helped cover up serial child rape. That's not really a good thing.

Just out of curiosity, do you know what sarcasm is? That post was full of it. But its OK.

How were the actions of their fans any different than any fanbase anywhere??

The fans enabled the culture? Seriously?

They enabled the culture of "As long as you win football games, Joe Paterno can do whatever the hell he wants. We will turn our heads." And it bit them in the ass.

C'mon man that's a bit of a stretch. The fans had no idea a coach was raping boys in the locker room.

Of course not. You are missing my point. They gave one man all the power and let him do with it what he wanted. And it bit them.

Blaming the fans in any way for this is borderline retarded.

They had no problem with Joe Paterno doing whatever the hell they wanted. Am I blaming them for what Sandusky did? No, of course not. But I don't feel sorry for them when they collectively decided Joe Paterno was Penn State.

What exactly did the fans turn their head from?

They just assumed Joe Paterno did everything right. Obviously they were wrong.

I have no proof, but I'm pretty sure that if Joe was willing to let a child molester around campus, he was doing other **** too.

There is not a single fan base in all of college football that doesn't give that kind of power to their coach. The only difference btwn fan bases is what the coach is doing behind their back. OK to hate Paterno, Over the top absurd to blame the fans for involvement in his actions.

So they are in the wrong because..

A) They assumed their coach was doing stuff right

B) They should have seen hypothetical other wrong doings that you think they should of known about that would lead them to discover their coach was turning a blind eye a pedofile

Color me in the camp of not thinking PSU fans deserve and helped enable this.

What he did was wrong yes and you will never see me defend him. Penn st has been around for over 150 years and they will continue to exist. Paterno did great things and donated a lot of money to that school and yes he probably could have done more, but let's not forget that Sandusky did these things and 50 years from now Paterno will probably still get the blame and not sandusky
That's about all they are doing at this point. Existing.

Against. Always hated Penn State and always thought Joe Pa was a self-righteous, sanctimonious d-bag. The only people I feel sorry for are the players and the current coaches. The fans, for all their defense of Paterno, can suck it.

I was rooting for at first, then I heard about the fans chanting Joe Paterno's name when the team buses arrived.

Are you serious?

Stop trying to act like PSU fans are a superior to all other fans. They like to see wins just like any other fans. Attendance will suffer when losses pile up year after year.

go hang out with them for a bit and you'll change your mind.

Glad to see that school swirl down the toliet.

I'm thinking that they are just getting what they deserve. There is never an excuse for not acting on something like that. Inexcusable is putting it mildly.
