Seems like we may see something like this on ebay soon, reading Cut's comments today in the Tennessean.

I, for one, am glad to see someone there finally take a true stand on things like discipline and basic decency and class. How far away from those things have we gotten???!!! :bad:

I guess this is part of the battle for born-and-bred Southerners who are forced to place the hopes of their beloved UT program in the hands of hot-shots from the likes of Oregon or California.

Maybe they will be attached to Slicks appendix or hernia, or whatever they took out of there. Now that would be an quality Ebay item.

Is this serious? Jewelry is a sign that an individual has no discipline, decency, or class? I always knew Mr. T was an A-hole.

If its not a sign of lack of discipline and class, why would Cut make this move? Why would he care? Don't question me...question him.

He did it because he knew a)it was the right thing to do, and b)he knew the overwhelming majority of UT fans, alums would be supportive of the move.

But, hey, keep spinnin it, baby. :dance2:

Was this an issue with Jonathan Crompton, a native Tennessean, or at least southern?

In truth, the earings should have been yanked out after the olay pass in the endzone of Death Valley :clapping:

No . . . I just think it's silly when people start knocking kids because of where they are from.

He did it because he's a)old and b)about as in touch with today's popular culture as Ralph Reed. I wish UT would recruit this team of in-state, clean cut Gomer Pyles a portion of our fan base longs for. That would give me one team I could bet against with confidence every Saturday.

My guess is that he made the move because it was a distraction. It mostly would not have been a distraction if it wasn't for all the old farts in the stands and on message boards complaining.

.

I think this move by Cutcliffe is about UNITY more than anything. You know, playing as a team instead of a bunch of individuals? I don't think the jewelry stuff has much to do with the discipline part of it, that's where things such as running come into play.

I tend to think this is probably the reasoning behind his decision. You can agree with it or not, but as the coach it is his decision to make. Does it make a difference in how the kids perform on the field? Doubtful, but it doesnt hurt anything either. Ainge is no less of an individual just because he can no longer wear an earring.

As a born and bred southerner with 3 earrings, I find this logic laughable at best and offensive at worst. Do I tell you what kind of watch you can wear?

No it probably won't, but it plants a little we are a team seed in their head. I would say it's kind of like the Army shaving your head.

I personally could care less if they wore jewelry or not but like you said, it's Cut's rule and that's that. He has his reasons. But I wouldn't care if Ainge looked like Liberace if he was throwing 4 or 5 TD's a game.

Congratulations on your piercings.

Did you wear them to your job interview? Do you wear them on the job? If "yes", then must be posting wireless from a construction site. If no, why not? Because it shows immaturity and a lack of class. Period.

Do not try to argue, unless you were willing to wear all 3 at your interview.

The individual look and concept didn't work for them over the last years. Sometimes being on a team means giving up your god given right to wear earrings. Don't think it is necessarily a bad thing. Don't read too deep. It is not about forgetting where they come from or giving up their rights. It is like OWB wrote, building a team concept. Everyone just needs to calm down and let Cut do his work. Think his policies will produce results.

Ladies and gentlemen, the passage above has surpassed all other contenders to become The Most Ridiculous Post Ever.

I wear them at my job every day, genius. I also wear them to church and every other place I go. I am posting from a very large company that you have heard of designing aircraft structure. Where are YOU posting from?

By whose authority does it show lack of maturity and class? Because it is a social convention? You have to do better than that.

I'm piercing-free, and don't wear any rings, watches, or necklaces...it's just not my thing.

I've gotta say though -- your position on piercings and jewelry is negative, narrow-minded, and ridiculous.
