For the first time in almost two decades I don't feel intimidated going to Gainesville

Im always nervous against Florida, too many years watching us find a way to lose. Even this past season had me nearing heart attack levels of anxiety at the end of the game.

But I’ll be ready to cheer the orange on and hope to stomp the Gators so hard that their jorts are so full of swamp they **** mud for weeks

Man, I would love to see how many of our regular Gator posters would stick around if we started our own streak against them. Wouldn’t be able to know for a few years if we started one but it’s easy to be gracious and friendly in enemy territory when you have owned the series in recent memory.

I’ve lurked on Candy and UK boards and they are nowhere near as nice to Vol posters there are y’all are to our resident reptiles.

I think the old reliables will stick around, they are fun to talk to and treat our board with respect.

I don’t think I’ll ever not be nervous about a game there. But we took over Death Valley and they’ve got no QB. I could really do with a cathartic stomping of them
I was in Baton Rouge last year. That place was empty in the 3rd quarter. Their band was all alone in the end zone and we sang Rocky Rop well into the night. Still always nervous about UF

You are really trying to hold on to the fear people used to have playing in Gainesville, aren't you?

No, I will not be nervous, neither will the majority of Tennessee fans. Florida is not Florida and Gainesville is a dump. . . only thing I'll be nervous about is making it out of Gainesville without some form of hepatitis.
Or a piss balloon or an accidental Meth possession charge because GVille

Nervousness went out the window as soon as you guys hired Sun Belt Billy.

You weren’t nervous last year when AR was throwing for 500 yards and heaving a Hail Mary toward your end zone as time expired? Napier was the coach.

Lie to someone else, everyone here knows better. 👍

Everyone saying you're not nervous, surely South Carolina last year taught you that you should be nervous before any SEC game (with maybe Vandy as the only outlier).

Sometimes I don't think people truly understand how bad that South Carolina team was coming into our game.

If tickets weren't so expensive I'd actually be interested in making the drive down to the game. It would be nice to sing Ricky Top as Gatir Fans are fleeing the stadium in the 3rd quarter..

I was about as nervous as you were going into the Vanderbilt game. Oh wait… 🤭

I was nervous when we were up 38-21 halfway through the 4th quarter. The gators always find a way to win in the close games with ut. Last year's game was almost the same. Yes, I was nervous from start to finish.

A certain amount of nerves obtain with watching any game about which one cares about the outcome. That is not the same as the dread most Vol fans experienced for the last twenty or so years going into the UF game. Guess what? We are not the same team we were for those two decades, and neither is UF. The worm has turned and we fear you every bit as much as we do Arkansas or Mizzou.

The last 5 minutes of the Florida game last season was the most nervous I’ve been during a game in years. With every passing second my brain was creating the headlines of how we ONCE AGAIN blew it versus Florida, but in absolute epic fashion this time. If we get a lead this year we better not slow it down. We need to step on their neck and end it.

We haven’t won down there in 20 years. There’s no way I’m going into that game thinking it will be easy, especially at night.

Reading the discussion here, it becomes apparent that most of the back-and-forth is really just about how some folks are naturally nervous, and others aren't.

I personally don't get nervous about most football games. Don't get anxious. Don't get jittery. Just don't.

Once in a while, though, I do. I was anxious at points in the '98 Arkansas game. I was very energized, though I didn't really feel nervous, during last year's Bama game. I was excited at times in the Dobbnail boot game. Probably a few others as well that just aren't coming to mind right now.

So that's one place we seem to be talking past one another. "If you say you're not nervous, you're lying." No, he's just built different than you.

I think Florida is, right now, about as much of a challenge as South Carolina or Arkansas. Not a Vandy, not a Kentucky, but certainly not the Florida of old, the Steve Spurrier or Urban Meyer versions of Florida.

The Swamp is just another hostile SEC stadium. It used to have extra oomph because the gators teams were so good. Not any longer. Now it's just another place we go for away games.

I think that's what a lot of folks here are trying to say. Those who get nervous, and those who don't.

Go Vols!

I won’t feel confident about this game until we start beating them consistently and have a decent win streak going that is greater than one. Also we seem to have this conversation every single offseason about how bad Florida is only to get worked by them during the season. At least we won last year. I hope we can finally get a foothold on the series and have it stay in the right direction.

For almost 20 years, I've felt dread when it came to the prospect of playing Florida in the Swamp but I'm feeling way more confident this year. I'm not calling for a 50-0 rout by any means because we've all seen strange things happen against Florida, but at least we know our head coach won't do stupid stuff to ruin our chances to escape with a win. I can't wait to see how 2023 goes. It could be a magical season with a little luck and if we can avoid the injury bug.
While I understand the sentiment and also think Florida is trending down (aside from some recent success recruiting) Florida in Gainesville isn't a given until we actually beat them there

If you’re not nervous, you’re abnormal or you’re lying. Florida beat TN something like 25 of 30 years and yet I was still nervous before EVERY game.
You are delusional. A blind man can see that Florida is trash now and Tennessee is the opposite.

Not nervous, not lying and not delusional. Florida in Gainesville scares me no more than Kentucky.

Yes it does. Your hatred for Florida gets in the way of your ability to rationalize honestly. Your bravado is a cover for your anxiety. TN will be heavy favorites and will very likely be the better team and win, but you’ll be as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs until that win is secured. 😂

By the way, being nervous isn’t a bad thing, it just means something important is happening.

Do you think he survives another 5 win season? The monied folks will be getting very anxious. In this day and age, two losing seasons is enough to get you canned at a school like UF (which is dumb).
Not sure if you've seen their full 2024 schedule but it only gets more difficult next year

You are projecting.

The only people nervous are the ones who are still recovering from the horrible coaching we've had the past 15 years.

There is nothing to be nervous about. Florida is a dumpster fire with a lame-duck coach. They'll be lucky to get 7 wins.

Beating Florida in their current state moves the needle about as much as beating Mississipi State, Vanderbilt, or UCF.

I'm more nervous that I may get called to jury duty.
