For the first time in almost two decades I don't feel intimidated going to Gainesville

Screw florida. If we do things right, and it’s far less of an if with Heupel than it has been with other coaches, we’ll win by 4 tds. Obviously anything’s possible, but we’ll have a chance to lock it up in the first half, and I am sure that Heupel will have some stuff drawn up to do just that.

Last year we played like garbage in the first half and still led at half. The second half was what we did all season, up until the last 8 mins. And there’s no AR15 this year to bail them out. Don’t care how good the run game is, if passes aren’t completed, uf is not keeping up with us. We will load the box and bring the pressure. Uf will complete some first downs here and there, but minus some exceptionally poor tackling, they won’t score enough to keep up with us.

Yes, I think he’ll get at least 3 full seasons, although next year he is going to feel pressure like he’s never known. The team won’t be great and it will get loud and uncomfortable.

In this portal world IMO he could not survive a 5 game win in year 2, the AD and big boosters would be worried about a mass exodus and replace. The players that where loyal to him may portal with him to Sunbelt or CUSA. So you would still lose some but most of those would be marginal.
I think Florida could have a really good year it all depends on the QB is he a fit for the O, is he a leader etc.. if QB is so so the team could struggle to 6 or less Ws.

The Vols just have a knack for making garbage QBs look like absolute studs.

Anthony Richardson—a QB whose main critique, ironically, is “he’s not good at throwing”—put up 450 against us. It’s just a weird anomaly for the Vols defense.

Of course, new year, new improved D. I’m sure things will be different. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about a failed Big 10 west scrub from Wisconsin under center for the gators.

I think if the current level of recruiting holds up, he’d survive even a 5-win season. Right now, the class is legit and it’s giving everyone optimism and a level of patience. But if the 5 wins leads to a bunch of decommitments and an average or below average recruiting class, he may be in trouble.

For almost 20 years, I've felt dread when it came to the prospect of playing Florida in the Swamp but I'm feeling way more confident this year. I'm not calling for a 50-0 rout by any means because we've all seen strange things happen against Florida, but at least we know our head coach won't do stupid stuff to ruin our chances to escape with a win. I can't wait to see how 2023 goes. It could be a magical season with a little luck and if we can avoid the injury bug.
I’m confident but cautious. That is a hard place to play even when they’re not at their best and we’ve seen this scenario before.

Time for us to go down there and remind them of our current place. We are better, and AR isn’t their QB.

On paper we are better team. It would be nice to start a long winning streak against them.

I'm absolutely nervous about it. A Florida team that was worse than Tennessee already beat Heupel handily in Gainesville once.

This won't be an easy win. Florida tends to have their best game of the year against us.
Lolwut?

That UF team was literally just 1 game worse than us and had just come off a 2 pt loss vs #1 Bama...

They also had Mullen still, who was a great offensive mind and they were dumb to run him off. Now they have a dumb*** Bubba convict looking bum. Guy is a disaster.

They're still very talented, as they always should be. But this game will be a ~10 pt spread and we'll walk off the field with low blood pressures.

"The Vols"

You're acting like this new staff is just stuck to some consistent modicum known as "the vols".

Fwiw we managed 1st round Richardson fine enough.

Then we tore up Levis.

Oh and then we ripped Klubnik.

So I'd say Martinez is doing just fine vs hyped up guys and top draft picks.

No, giving up 500 total yards and 4 TDs isn’t “managing” any QB and isn’t good. Especially when that QB is Anthony Richardson—who ****ing stinks.

Besides that, sure: this is not the same Vols team as we’ve seen in the past. But let’s not act like garbage Florida QBs haven’t done work against us in the last decade. Will Grier, Felipe Franks, Kyle Trask, Emory Jones. Even Austin Appleby was having a great game against us in 2016 until our defense took over in the second half.

A list full of scrubs. But when they play us, somehow, they ball out. If you haven’t seen that then you just haven’t been paying attention.

Yep. If fans have learned anything at all, it's that the most talent doesn't always win out in this series. Many a year UT had better talent but still found a way to lose. Maybe this time will be different because of a trickle down effect from Heupel, but I take nothing and no game for granted.
This! UT has lost to several mediocre to bad UF teams over the last 20 years. Just because they are UF doesn't automatically mean they are good.

Is it too early to discuss a Napier extension?
Cornbread 2.0..Just purchased 2 ...91,93,95,97,2001,2003, 2005, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2017, 2019..been there.. Looking forward this year. Cautiously optimistic. First time I believe our coaching stands up.. Hoping back end of secondary will too.

Not really.

But in '24 and '25 especially, if we can keep the guys there and not lose a ton to the portal...

💯 agree!!! Let the pressure be on them finally.

Nothing to gloat about. BN is not going to win many games with his prevent offense in the second half. Absolute snooze fest. He gets another year next year. He needs to keep the 2024 class together and needs to get an OC or figure something else out about in-game management.

I think the Vols are better than what they were on Saturday, and we are worse than what we looked like on Saturday. People are seriously over reacting and drawing long term conclusions from one game.
