For The Win

That said she really should have made at least the 2nd team given the number of top 10 positions she held. Part of the problem though is if all point guards score the most votes (popularity) then you have a roster loaded with point guards

I don't think All-WNBA is popularity based, at least the same way that All-Star voting is.

Candace's stats, even in a year like this where she didn't play with effort for a good portion of games, was still good enough that, at least stats wise, she deserved to be on the second team. An argument can even be made that she should have been first team. My guess is that the writers have seen their share of games where they saw no point in rewarding a player that coasted through too many games in a short season.

That's the problem with this fanbase and some of you thinking because people have opinions that don't agree with yours we aren't loyal fans. You had the analyst saying the same things we said last night (or did you watch the game?)

Rebecca Lobo who is one of UCONN's best players praised Parker and her abilities as one of the best women to ever play the game and didn't understand why she was settling when she had the better defender in Brunson on the bench with 3 fouls in the first half and she destroyed Natasha Howard everytime Howard has tried to guard her all season long. It is no reason Parker should not have had a stat line similar to (if not better than) Maya Moore. The difference is Maya Moore (and Sylvia Fowles) refused to let their team lose and Parker and Tolliver (pouted and complained pretty much the entire game) there comes a time when you have to stfu and play ball. There is a reason why she was left off the Olympic team and it seemed as though none of the girls (even her own fellow Lady Vol alum) missed her. There is also a reason the voters (which I don't agree with) didn't vote her All-WNBA. Your personality and the way you do things can rub people the wrong way (seeing as though some of us have done to you and you've blocked/ignored us) to where people no longer want to deal with you and your BS. She has always seem to have a sense of entitlement and it is beginning to show and you know how she can silence the doubters. By shutting us up and going out and giving her all every night without the excuses.

P.S. This is a forum for us to share our views and not all of our views will be the same and if your views don't align with someone else doesn't mean you stoop to childlike tantrums and name calling to get your point across because your views aren't going to make anyone else change their's.

Like I said, I allow myself one 'childlike tantrum' a year on here and this was it. As long as I have been a active user on here, their are only a few users whose comments I just skim over because I already know what is it in, spiteful garble. Again, this is the internet, anything goes, blah blah blah. Thats why we can ignore I guess. Your post, personally to me, are complex and offer a variety input. My glasses that I see through are orange. I'll be the first to say that, Maya was on it last night, as usual. She is the star for her team this year. When she struggles, team struggles. She has heart. She is going to go down as one of the top 5 best WNBA players ever. When it comes to basketball, I can see through team colors and coach's, because it's a sport in the end. I will root for my team always, I will root for LVFL players. I won't trash them, or make ridiculous comments about them over one game. It's sickening to see Parker have an off night, because as Lobo pointed out, she was given the green light, why didn't she drive the car?
I welcome forms of difference of opinions, many on here. And this is a forum, definition, share thoughts. But when the difference of opinion is 100% of the time (basketball related, because I know they comment on other sports) constantly tearing down people and their comments bring nothing positive to a conversation, personally I end those conversations. And this is the only person I've had to block. It's America, we all have the freedom to voice. That's what makes us ...err .. .great again? But as a forum, I get to make my feelings known as well too? I'm not trying to start a barn burner grab your torch type of thing, just having my own personal tantrum and wanted to share it with the world :peace:

As the story goes, game 5 coming up, we will see who the champion is. I will be sad if she doesn't bring it home. Will I go on a forum and say how awful she is the she's the virus on the team and why they didn't win, no. I wouldn't do that to lady vol on a lady vol forum, who gave her all to UT and PS .... If she is all this bad as someone has made her out to be ... how is she even in the championship and how did she help lead her team to almost the best record in the WNBA?

This Thursday Candace Parker can rebound (pun intended for sure) from her abysmal performance last night.

A missed opportunity to win a championship on The Sparks home court and the players couldn't get the job done. Ugh!

One more chance in Minnesota. Candace has another opportunity to rise to the occasion. I personally would hate to see her lose. Just one more game to get it right.

You can do it Candace! I ain't mad at you anymore.

Candace has never been a leader. She never was at UT. Anosike and Hornbuckle were the leaders on both those NC teams and Anosike basically threatened Parker's life several times to get her to play defense. I still remember Parker getting her rear end chewed out by Pat vs. Rutgers at halftime in Cleveland for jogging down the floor.

I love Candace as a person, but she's always been rather lazy as a player. She honestly could've been so much better as a player, even in high school and college, had she exerted herself 100% of the time. That speaks to her talent level. At this point, she is what she is. It isn't going to change one iota. It's just frustrating to see an elite athlete coast instead of giving 100% effort. It has happened with basketball players for years. It was a problem with Serena Williams for many years until around probably 2012 or so. Outside of injuries, it was the most frustrating things about being a fan of hers.

Hope I am wrong but looks like Sparks missed their chance.

And the layoff doesn't bode well for the Sparks either. Why is there a 4 day break between game 4 and game 5. I understand the game has to return to Minny but 4 days allows the older team (Lynx) to get a little rest and healthier and in a one win takes all game it will be tough for LA to beat them. I am hoping they do but the chances imo are really slim.

This thread is largely a sad commentary of people who saw a chance to really trash Parker.Guess that none of those trashing her have never had an off day in their life's work ...Hope that she sticks your trash where the sun does not shine in this next game.

Didn't watch the last game, had to wed off another daughter in PA. Guess I shouldn't watch the next one either since CP is so awful and the game has passed her by.

But, didn't all y'all say the same things about Peyton prior to his return from injury and leading his team to the top?

There is always naysayers who want to crap on someone around here, :(

Guess I'm one of the "naysayers"...I was very critical of Candace in that last game...but I've been a Candace Parker fan for years...I was in Thompson-Boling Arena the night her jersey was retired. For whatever reason, Candace is stressing...very uncharacteristic of her to argue with her head coach during a game as was the case last game. Her teammates were reportedly pleading with her to "keep your composure"...and when Holly Rowe interviewed her head coach and asked "What do you need to do to get Parker going this 2nd half" his response was "Candace can help herself by MOVING around..."...clearly frustrated with her effort. I want to see Candace do what I know Candace Parker can do...but it seems her current mental state is affecting her game...and that hopefully changes Thursday night.

Parker didn't have a bad game; she didn't play with effort. Big difference. That's why she's getting criticized. We all know she is one of the top 3 basketball talents in the world when she decides she wants to be, so seeing that level of indifference from her in this game as a fan is frustrating to say the least.

I concur. Yes, something mental is going on with Candace. All she had to do is move around like her coach stated. But mainly move around in the paint and not out on the perimeter.

Sweet revenge and a big showcase for the Sparks to beat The Lynx in Minny this Thursday.

I think they can do it. And I hope that they will. I'm sick of Maya Moore, Lindsey Whalen and the rest of them.

Sometimes its the pressure of the moment. You never experienced that huh, the adranaline, the emotions, the expectations are all sky high, the energy, trying to keep it bottle up and channeled, for some players, great players its a fine line, and then you have a bad performance, all the questions, what's wrong with you, like all Great players who is on top of the scanner can't be taken out of their game.

Champions rise to the challenge, and Candace is a Champion, now on every level, but sometimes even for great players the moment is too GREAT.

Way to seize the moment Parker, and Sparks.
