NIL money at players is the answer are not paying attention. Look at Texas A&M right now. How did it work out for them?
Texas A&M Aggies 2022 recruiting class.

Smoke Bouie | Kicked off High 4 star
Chris Marshall | Kicked off 5 star
Denver Harris | Kicked off 5 star

All three players transferred to different teams, all of them have now seemingly been kicked off those teams as well.

Yea, let’s just look at rankings and throw the big bucks at them. It’s such a sound strategy.

Id say its a quick fix. The sojourner, mercenaries with elite talent are dudes that can help put a team over the top. In listening to former players from our team. They say that Huep needs to go after guys that may or may not fit their culture.

Seems like staff has dug that line in the sand. Cant say I blame them.

I believe teams with quality players and a great culture will beat teams with star players and a cancerous culture. Signing players based solely on athletic talent and not character is a huge mistake IMO.

It worked for Georgia, sure their culture is trash and it’s borderline dangerous to send your child there they’ve won b2b championships. They will most likely implode but it sure as hell is a winning formula. Could work for us and might last longer since our coach actually cares about a kid’s well being

Likely poor evaluation on TAMUs part regarding these specific kids, not an indictment of NIL per se.

Reminds me of the class Kiffin brought in... bunch of high * ratings but ol' Kiff ignored the Wunderlic sniff test. Most of that class eventually left or got kicked out.

Now you take Heup's ability to (1) Find upstanding kids that (2) Fit in his system AND (3) We're able to throw a bunch of NIL at them, and we're talking gravy.

I think its an issue of extremes. You can't rely on it, and you can't ignore it. Striking a balance is key, and the balance is probably never 50/50, and there is no reason to think that every team's balance should be the same. Coaching staffs, history, available resources will all dictate different balances for different teams.

It wasn't the great shake up people thought it would be, if anything it helps concentrate talent even more, especially with the portal.

to me it doesn't really seem to change up recruiting all that much, players were getting paid before but now its in the open. You are still having to recruit, even with NIL money being thrown around. We are still having to recruit against the best teams in the nation, just because we have a good collective doesn't mean we "should" start winning these battles any more than we would before.

They aren’t winning 10 games this season.

How many seasons of football are you going to have to watch before you accept there’s a range of possible outcomes?

For A&M 10 or 11 regular season wins is 100% possible. They have one of the best rosters in the sec

If beating Alabama helps them get to 10 wins, then I'm all in. I just don't think they have the QB play to win 10.
eh. Bama, LSU, and Tennessee are the three best teams they play. probably losses, even though they beat LSU last year. the rest of their schedule isn't too hard. they won't need great QB play to beat some of these others.

they lost to Ole Miss by 3, Auburn by 3, South Carolina 6, Alabama 4, App State 3.

looking at their schedule, even a field goal improvement gets them 3 more wins. a touchdown better and they are 10-2.

New Mexico - W
Miami - W
La-Monroe - W
Auburn - W
Arkansas - W
Alabama - L
Tennessee - L
South Carolina = W
Ole Miss - W
Miss State - W
Abiliene Christian = W
LSU - L

they have the talent to play with anyone, you can see that because they played their best against the best teams they faced.

NIL isn’t a magic bullet for sure; but you want to have the piggy Bank fully stocked for when you have to get that one can’t miss recruit.
It is like everything else, a tool to be used wisely

Tennessee beating Georgia somehow and losing to A&M in the same season would be about par for the course honestly.

Some teams are throwing almost their entire NIL package at a couple of recruits. That usually never goes well in a lockerroom. Tennessee and Spyre have tried to spread NIL amongst a lot of players on the team etc. Still you have some BS like with Banks last year and Luttrell talking crap this year.

I think fans believe we should throw the bank at this player or that player but the coaches have their own board of players and know which ones are worth more and which ones you can get comparable talent for less money. Some teams are throwing money around like mad and others are looking for a sustainable model.

Pretty much this. You have to be able to put competitive offers out there. However there are examples that show simply buying talent with no regard to fit won’t work. We keep winning and get out from under the NCAA stuff (which is having an effect despite what some here say), and we’ll be able to compete with pretty much anybody in terms of NIL.
