Forcing People to Stay Home

Ya'll have seen my post many times, but I'll say it again. I was one of the last to have a grandfathered ticket. Had it since the 1980's. There are at most 8 home games a year out of 365 days. I'll pay what I have to to go. I do not tailgate; I take the school bus from Foothills Mall in Maryville to/from the game. It's just what I do. My single ticket has gone from ~300 in the '80s to almost 900 now. I just want to watch football live. (Do the same for Maryville High School games too).
BTW, my wife has no interest in football. She just has 8 Saturdays free.

I
I live close enough that I don't need a hotel - thank goodness! I too don't want to sell to a Bama fan. As of now I plan to be there - but that re-sale value right now is crazy. And if both continue to win, it will be even more so.
I will be there but my wife isn’t going, hence my single.

If there is a waiting list for 15K, why was I asked if I was interested in more tickets when I renewed mine?
There are complete rows of seats in Neyland for games vs Ky & miss St. (I haven’t bothered to look at Fla or Bama) . The prices are enormous. Those are NOT people selling their seats. Those are tickets transferred to ticket brokers. I don’t know if UT has a contractual obligation to these people but a lot of tickets are being sold by brokers.

I have my single season ticket, but was also asked if I wanted more or to move. I checked my standing in the queue. I am in the 14K range, so I am sorely afraid to make any changes let I lose mine. I used to go to the majority of baseball games, especially opening day at UT (froze half to death). I sat behind home plate. Cost about $7. There were probably 300 people there and that may be an exaggeration. Now I cannot even get a single game ticket to baseball. Ticketmaster for Longwood was like $50.

Speaking of ticket prices, anyone have an idea of how much tickets will cost to the Arkansas game? I live in Arkansas, so may be able to make it
The get-in price on Seat Geek is currently only $71, fees included. So, yes I understand the complaints of this thread, including travel costs in today's economy. But, for an SEC game, anyone with the means to get to Fayetteville on Saturday should really consider it.

If people stay home, ticket prices will drop.

However... that's not happening anytime soon. At the current pace, in a few years we could be pretty close to selling out the whole stadium in season tickets before the season even starts.
Last I heard, there was a15,000 person waiting just for season tickets and talk of a 3rd deck at Neyland.

I’m not pointing fingers at anyone in particular, but I have always thought that some guys come on here and get cocky and brave because they can’t get away with acting like that way with the wife..lol

This discussion always gets to me. It's reeeal simple like it or not. If the stadium is full, then the ticket prices are not too high.

CFB ticket prices are already encouraging people to stay home rather than physically attend games at stadiums. The enticement of ever larger 4K & 8K TVs is adding to that encouragement. Eventually, they will price themselves out of the market. Tickets, travel costs, and whatever else fringe services get tacked on. All will force people to reconsider stadium attendance.

Another factor is the rise of streaming, undercutting satellite and cable service. Satellcables learning nothing from how their greed pushes people away, now seek a monopoly. Basically, limited customer choices and making it easier to bully customers with ever increasing fees. All with no avenue to do anything about it. But they are wrong, it will ignite defiance, and increase the birthrate of alternative access. Likely even outlaw underground, offshore, or perhaps balloon based streamers who resent the incessant greedy milking of customers. I even foresee creative hackers coming up with computerized capture and decrypting devices that hijack broadcast signals. People can be very imaginative when pushed into a corner and bullied long enough. Streamers had best be careful to not repeat the bullying of customers. Otherwise, face a similar fate.

The idea of gaining and keeping customer loyalty via fair play, pricing, superior service etc. doesn't factor in the minds of these tick-leeches. It's going to cost them long term. Just as people opt to stay home with their giant TVs, and streaming services, they will double down by cutting their Satellcable cables for alternative assess to watching CFB games.
Ticket prices have gotten obscene

Meh. It’s simple supply and demand. Demand is high. So are prices. The market tends to sort itself out…. Ya commie. :)

We're just going to stay both Friday and Sat nights and plan on having a great time since I'm in my 70s. There is nothing like knoxville and neyland experience. The drive from nashville to knoxville is always unpredictable, remember a few years some of those driving up for ole miss game had all sorts of delays on Saturday. Since I made hotel reservations monthe ago, got good deal on rooms.

A valid argument, though I'd say, it depends on who's buying the tickets. Kind of like oil prices, gasoline buyers don't really have options, so buy it and swallow hard at the budgetary penalties for doing so. Long live capitalism!!!

I understand you have worms, but that's your problem, not mine. You should see a doctor for help with that problem.

If that is the case, then someone needs to lose their job. I’d rather us not have a football team than see it used for direct profit to a corporation. Being that the university is taxpayer funded, how is it legal to be pimped out to an out of state corporation for profit?

I’m not pointing fingers at anyone in particular, but I have always thought that some guys come on here and get cocky and brave because they can’t get away with acting like that way with the wife..lol

You are so right that it’s not even funny. This is where I misbehave away from work and family.
