Forget Georgia and Texas, why is no one talking about Nico Iamaleava and Tennessee?

Georgia winning like 40 straight regular season games and Texas having the best 2 QBS in the country may have something to do with it. If we win the next 4 games, we will get plenty of talk.

We’ve already moved way up in the polls and most writers predict us to be in the playoff. I don’t think we’re a secret any longer.

However, an impressive win in Norman and the hype (er, Heup) will go to crazy levels. Especially if Nico has a coming out party and lights it up.

The only reason more people aren’t talking about us is our schedule. UGA stomped Clemson and TX beat Michigan. Our best win is NCST.
Everyone wants to minimize our win over NC State, in part because we won so easily.

They're not Clemson or Michigan, but they're not Houston or Ferris State, either.

Here was last season's final AP poll:

No, they're never going to win the ACC, much less a national title. They are a perennial mid-tier ACC team.

But they are a helluva lot taller than anything Oklahoma has played to date.

Go Vols!

This is an opinion I see more and more national media starting to reflect..

Eh everyone is talking about Tennessee. Have been for weeks since we roflstomped NC state. We are ranked 6th people noticed. Pretty much every pundit on youtube is talking even Multiple big Bammer YouTubers are all in on UT being legit. We are the team people fear. But some people, sane people are still in a wait and see mode for this weekend. UTC and Kent State are kind of epically bad. And we sort of broke Grayson McCall. NC State is 2-1. UTC is 0-3 and Kent State is 0-3 rolling into another money game beatdown by Penn State. I think that game mean something if Penn State drops 50 on them it will discount our win in some pundits eyes. But maybe just maybe Kent State and UTC can turn their seasons around. UTC is crazily still ranked in the top25 FCS pol because of who they lost to. They played Georgia State close and had a low scoring loss to Mercer.

What teams we play do after we play them matters more this year than ever. Our resume right now had some blotches and these next 4 games are gonna be what determines it all. If we can come out of this stretch 4-0 or 3-1 we are pretty much set for the playoffs. Because SoR will overcome SoS and the rest of our schedule is decent. Miss State, Florida and Kentucky having terrible starts does not help though.

ESPN is sliding the narrative that we havent. Saying NCST is really really bad. Its ok, we will find out this Saturday. Time for talking is over. This team talks with their pads!

Maybe because we have beaten three awful to mediocre teams. We jumped 8 or so places in the popular opinion polls. That’s great. Now we have to win against some real teams. Do that and more recognition will come. Don’t get over your skis, wait and see what happens and hope for the best.

Agreed. I’m pumped about Nico but it seems the medias reaction to Nico is almost contrived and over the top at this point. The team as a wholehas shined though.

Honestly, the media & talking heads are a bit ahead of me now in the hype. My gut and eyes say Nico is really, really special but he hasn’t completely shown it yet. He needs to mature some.
Agree, the offense is very good, but the defense is what is going to get us there.

He’s done it against 3 snoozers. The opponent quality has been awful to this point but he will get a chance to prove himself this weekend.

The Vols are getting their fare share of hype, and deservedly so. As for myself, and many Vol fans on this board, this isn’t coming as a surprise. I made many pre-season posts on various threads that stated how improved I thought TN would be this year. An offense that has few to no weaknesses across the board that’s lead by a talent with ridiculous potential. The game changer is the TN defensive front that now seems almost as deep as it does talented.

Anyway, back on topic, people across the country are taking notice and absolutely talking about the Vols! From the media to average CFB fans, the Vols are big into the football conversations. Honestly though, were I a Vol fan, I would rather the Hype stay down as long as possible, as it can be like a runaway train where it’s not so much beneficial but can become sometimes detrimental to the team.

I've seen many articles similar to this. These are people that want to get on board of the Heup train before we destroy OU and announce ourselves this Saturday night in Norman. Good for them. I hope they are correct! Go Vols!

EDIT: It is prophetic or not? The first Dr. Pepper commercial this year was "The Heup Train"! *I'm pretty sure they misspelled Heup in that commercial, 🤣

And if we end up winning the Natty, they can make another commercial about the hype train being real lol

Here's a novel thought - why don't we get to Athens unbeaten, having taken down Oklahoma and Alabama along the way, and then worry about national media hacks mentioning us in the same breath as Georgia and Texas?

For me, what they say or think, good or bad, is completely irrelevant. Just win, baby.
