Daniel, you go ahead on, young man. I was not a great athlete, but I was trusted to achieve some other big things and ... underachieved. But am not done yet. We can always try to be penitent and guide the younger ones to do better, if they will listen.

Good luck, DB.

Good to go. I was in the Marines. The way it was first written. I read it as you were going through it with him. My bad. Well. Break him down. And build him up.

I read it the same way - thought wow...they are really getting soft if you can surf VN during boot camp.

I say he took the easy way because he didn't join the marines......once a marine always a marine!!!!!

Jk good for him

You jarheads are a bit too full of yourselfs. When I was at RSA, a detachment of about 75 Marines decided they wanted to challenge an entire Batallion of Army strong to a tackle football game. We had tons of all state talent from everywhere that for one reason or another didn't go to college. Total destruction, bloody, battered, Marines. But I'll give them the fact they were so brainwashed there was no quit in them. Bottom line there is nothing easy about the Army or Marines.

I played with brooks at jackson central merry hs when he was a sophomore and I was a senior. We all called him Mississippi bc no one knew his name and that he moved here from Mississippi. He was scout team running back and he loved the game. He was not a big tough kid early on. He grew into a superstar athlete later on in his career. Even with all of the fame and popularity of becoming a 5 star athlete he just wanted to play ball... He never could get on chavis good side and eventually had problems. I've seen him a few times since he left and I know he will do great things. Go Vols and go JCM Cougars!

I played at JCM under Coach Ross in the 10th grade before moving away. I remember when Shorty found a pack of cigs in my locker and he made me run the steps in the coliseum for over an hour.

That's hilarious , it was 65 degrees on the court level of the Oman and 99 at the top. Use to be an awesome school until they split it up

It is pretty soft. I'm actually quite disappointed with where the Army is headed

I agree it's not what it used to be. Allowing women in combat roles is ludicrous. How can a 120 lb. woman hump 20 miles with 100 lbs. of gear with female physical attributes? I'm 235 lbs. and even as a fit male don't think I could hump 20 miles with a relative 215 lbs. of gear. This applies to the Marines as well.

Some cheap shots on here. I swear if you underperform during your time as a player at UT, there will be posters on VN who want your life to be ruined forever. Pathetic. Best of luck to him.

this statement is born from sheer ignorance.

I suggest you ask the Germans if women can fight, because Russian women helped kicked their asses in WWII. ( The Russian Front in WWII was some of the most brutal combat in all of human history and Russian women fought just as well as the men. ) In fact one of the top snipers in WWII was a Russian women who was credited with 309 kills and won Russia's highest military honors.

When the defecation hits the rotary oscillator its not about being male or female or how strong you are. Its whats in your soul that counts. While combat isn't for every women, history has proven that women are capable soldiers if they want to be.

Maybe you should go read about Joan of Arc before making another silly post.

Let's hope he is not a giant bust now that he has a rifle in his hands.

A MAN goes back to school to get his degree in part so he can be a better father to his kids and set an example for them. Then, he volunteers to defend our country by joining the Army and you make a comment like that?
