Four UGA Football Players Arrested

What a joke.

"Richt said Tuesday that the four, who were charged with receiving double payments for checks of $71.50 issued by the Georgia athletic department, have been assigned extra work, including early morning running."

"There's more to come," Richt said. "I'm just thinking it through real good."

No pudding for a month , fry 'em coach fry 'em!

What, in your opinion, is the proper punishment?

just dont see how you can steal from the AD and your School and still be out there practicing without skipping a beat like nothing ever happened. it pretty much sums up the program richt runs. those kids dont fear him at all. thats why you have more problems than anyone over the last few years. stealing is just as bad if not worse than an individual failing a drug test. stealing from your own is lowest of the low.

stealing money from others is not a big deal?

Well let's put the shoe on our foot. If we had four players do this no one on this board would be saying kick them off the team . It was like 70 bucks per player. Was it wrong? Of course. Kids do dumb things.

honestly, if the shoe was on the other foot id say still boot em'. its ridiculous to steal from your school no matter what the check is worth. it may be 70 bucks but they still tried cashing those checks multiple times. pretty low act IMO

there would absolutely be people saying to kick them off. Weren't people saying to kick Cam Clear off the team?

if they had seen an open register at Weigels and took the money from there would it still be no big deal? How about if they were taking it from random wallets at the gym? They are thieves and should be treated as such no matter the logo on their helmet. Giving them a pass does no one any good

Georgia and Richt kicked off Nick Marshall and another player for stealing around $500 from their teammates.

I may be in the minority here or maybe I'm just too much of a nice guy.

My opinion is that sometimes coaches are pressured into tough discipline on their players. I'm all for second chances if a guy made just one bad mistake and has a good track record with schoolwork and behavior.
Obviously you have to get rid of any guys that are just bad people, I have no problem with that.

That's how all fans think. You want the rival teams to throw the players off the team for something as silly as driving with a suspended license, but you want your team to handle discipline internally like doing some extra workouts. All fans think like this, even ours.

you dont think theft from the school that gives you a scholarship is that serious? theres no way to defend it man. pretty sad but then again im sure you guys have gotten used to this in the spring. i make alot of mistakes but i sure as hell dont steal and bite the hand that feeds me.

Was a precedent not set with Nick Marshall and his buddy? The stole around $500 from their teammates.

Never said it was not serious, and not close to defending it. You have to approach it on a case by case basis. The coach has to decide on proper discipline, not the media, fans, or rival fans. Look at something else, they have embarrassed themselves and their family. They have to deal with that and learn from it.

All teams deal with trouble in the offseason. What kind of punishment do you think Aj Johnson and the rest of the boys involved in the party with booze and weed deserve? Butch decided, like he should have, and it does not bother me one bit.

booze and weed for college kids is not comparable to outright theft. They took money that was not theirs and running a few steps teaches them nothing

I believe they were misdemeanors in both cases, not really sure. So what is the proper punishment IYO?
