ESPN - Te'o, Telfort hold down top spots in 2009 OLB rankings - Football Recruiting

No two might be more alike than Eric Fields (Warner Robins, Ga./Northside) and Frankie Telfort (Miami/Gulliver prep) who round out our top-five 2009 OLBs. Aside from their matching measurables, they share Spence's natural instincts, great range and rare explosiveness tracking down ball-carriers.
Fields can run and hit as good as any outside linebacker in this class. The Clemson pledge takes direct angles to the ball-carrier and might have some of the best short-area burst and acceleration in the class, aside from Telfort. When this Florida native has a clear read to the ball, he looks like a heat-seeking missile or -- as Scouts Inc.'s Bill Conley termed him when viewing him at the Miami Nike camp this past spring -- "a little keg of dynamite."

New scout article today from a Nebraska site. He's narrowed his choices to 6: USC, Stanford, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Florida. In describing what he liked about those 6, he sounded really high on Tennessee.

I believe Askew & Telfort will commit to UT. Maybe King. The others i don't believe we have a shot. Te'o is going on a 1 or 2 year mormon mission. I'll take Askew & Telfort anyday between thses guys.

I feel really good about him, but to be honest I have to wonder how our on field performance will effect us. the upset on Monday had to hurt, but a big win over UF can get us right back where we need to be.

i heard Telfort was down to UF / UT. Of course the game against UF will probably not help unless we can pull a rabbit out of our a*!.

Telfort May Visit Clemson

By Eric Guimaraes
LB Frankie Telfort (6-0 205) of Miami, FL says there is a possibility that he could take an unofficial visit to Clemson later this year. Telfort had offers from both USC and Clemson. He says the Tigers are still involved with him but the Gamecocks have backed off. His top six are Southern California, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Florida, Stanford, and Ohio State. He has taken unofficial visits to both Tennessee and Florida and came away impressed with Tennessee. "They have a big campus," he said. "The football stadium is huge and really impressive," Telfort added. He has been to Florida many times and knew what to expect. Telfort wants to study pre-med and go to pharmacy school and says that is important in his decision. So far this season, he has 21 tackles, 8 for loss and a sack, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He has also scored a touchdown on offense. Telfort did not name a leader.

I wonder if the pitiful showing in Neyland hurt us with him

If you mean the booing and early leaving fans then it would hurt if I were him... and, yes, that was quite pitiful.

I will be surprised if several recruits that were there Saturday don't point back to UT's poor fans as a reason to go elsewhere.

Don't know what you're laughing at... with or without Fulmer, UT needs a good portion of those kids present Saturday to compete. As for the behavior itself, I'm not a person who treats an ingrown toenail by amputating the leg so it simply doesn't make sense to me.

Want to NOT be on national TV? Want to NOT get top talent? Then your part as a fan is booing the team and leaving early... job well done by all who did. Keep doing it and you'll get EXACTLY the team you deserve.

it does not matter how many of those kids we sign as long as phil is at the helm. given equal talent with the other team phil will lose. he just cant out talent other teams anymore.

Fulmer is a coach who can't win unless he has the cream of the crop in talent. He's definitely not Tuberville who can coach em' up and develop them.

it's not like Auburn sucks at recruiting.

2005 - 13
2006 - 10
2007 - 7
2008 - 20

Top 25 every year
Top 15 3 times
Top 10 twice

Tennessee is

2004 - 11
2005 - 4
2006 - 23
2007 - 3
2008 - 35

Not top 25 every year
Top 15 3 times
Top 10 twice

They aren't great but you could argue they have done better than us.

I never said they suck at recruiting. But if you go back further i think you'll find UT has tended finish higher on average than Auburn. Everyone says we don't have talent, you give Tuberville this team i guarantee you we could win.
