If Lebron or Wade or Durant were buried on a dead end club up in Vancouver averaging 37/game and making the playoffs every 3-4 years ... then you would not be mentioning there names right now. They would be considered circus act players and not true superstars or legends. Jordan would be considered "far less" today had Chicago not eventually landed Pippen / Grant / Rodman / Kukoc.

These great entertainers are judged in society based on winning titles. Jordan parlayed his skills into a business venture making him a billionaire. They are entertainers pure and simple. If they work their careers in favor for their own business interests, then I don't blame them one bit. It's called brains and vision.

When Carmello is gone, he'll be "forgotten" like McGrady and Hardaway, and a host of other superstars, who could stand toe to toe with anybody who ever played the game. They were never the mystical "champion" that people fawn over. Montana is a legend and considered by many even as the GOAT. Marino or Fouts are considered good stat guys, but not you know "champions". If the Niners had Marino for a decade they would have probably gone undefeated for 10 straight years! <-hyperbole here.

So, it's an entertainment biz. We need to stop expecting players to hold themselves to some "false purity" at their own expense.

JJ Peterson's word meant something. Maybe that says something about the type of man he is. Not a front runner, willing to do the heavy lifting. The kind of kid that you start building a defense around.

I don’t see how anyone can knock us moving into the top 25 after being so far down in the rankings, having the worst season I think in TN history, and having a bunch of coaches who have never coached at the level they are coaching ans who weren’t able to fully recruit until the national championship was over. The day isn’t over with either and we balanced out some misses with some wins as well.

I am as interested as anyone to see how this coaching staff works out. I think it’s a promising group of guys who are going to be hungry and who have a history of being a part of winning coaching staffs. Pruitt’s plan has worked out well so far and a top 20-25 class should not be a strike against him. Plenty of teams have had successes with lesser recruiting classes and you just saw what our former staff did with multiple top ten/15 classes stacked on top of one another.

The thing our fans need to remember is how good we were getting overnight but nothing was ever good enough. We pressured our former coach into making changes and we just got worse. This staff will need full support from our fans and if there is progress or small wins, we need to appreciate them and until we start going the wrong direction, we need to put a sock in it. Progress is progress and we somehow are starting from the bottom of the barrel albeit, we have not been there long and we still have a lot more talent than past succeeding coaches have inherited.

Let’s see what happens and let’s stay supportive until given reason not to be.

We have to keep things into perspective and look at what Pruitt stepped into, a big mess. To ask him to pull elite players away from the top teams on short notice might be a bit much.
