That is a really a great photo and a perfect example of republicans and democrats getting along. Hillary looks so young in that picture.

Fred is to the Republican primary what Obama is to the Democrats. We'll see if either of them can sustain rock star status.

I disagree, Obama does not have the power to win this one and to be honest neither does Billary, I really feel like we are not willing to elect a woman or a black man with a muslim past at this point in our nations history. I am not trying to be racist or anti-fem, but I just do not see the public behind them yet.

I'm no Obama supporter, but I don't see how you can really make that assertion. What has he done to show that he's dishonest?

Well, if we're going to start requiring our Presidents to be actors or actresses, my vote goes to Sean Penn.

That should stir things up a bit...

now there's a clear-thinking, well grounded leader for us

Confused, if requiring our President to be an actor, what does Sean Penn have to do with this conversation?

Say what you will about his politics, but as an actor, he's solid.
Oh, I must be confused, I thought you were touting him as President. He is a good actor, which is a very admirable and noble profession.

The chop job the South Park guys did on him in response to his political activism was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I grew up in Fred's hometown. His mother went to church where I did as well. I love Fred to death, he is what he says he is. He has a strong backbone and is a great communicator. With that said, Fred has left the philosophies of the GOP he started out with and has become a neoconservative. Ideologically, he is a mirror image of the Bush/Rove administration.

I've though many time over the past 10-20 years that one day, Fred would be our president. However, I'm now sick and tired of Bush/Rove and will likely not vote for Fred in the primaries. In fact, if he is on the final slate, I'll probably vote Libertarian, independent or write in. The Bush policies have failed, we really need to look deep inside and let all these boneheads know, from the White House down, that we're not putting up with this crap anymore. Vote all of these ticks and leaches out of office.

I would like to see some proof of this. Because if he is I want nothing to do with him.

have you not heard him speak? He seems very much pro-Bush ideologically. Don't get me wrong, he has some very good qualities. But if he gets mired down in religous/social ruts, agrees with amnesty, wants to set up permanent camp in Iraq, etc., he's going to be as effective as the current regime. I've heard several interviews and he seems very much like B/R philosophically to me.

The irony here is that FredHeads cannot explain anything concrete about their candidate's platform, agenda, etc. while telling us he's the best thing since sliced bread. He may be the best hope for the GOP but all I see coming from his people is that he's the hope but no substance of why.

I think this comes from the fact the ones who are frontrunners now are horrible. There is a huge disconnect from the party faithful and the ones running. This group is so desperate, they've flocked to Fred in droves without even waiting for his platform, vetting on background and history, or anything else. The guy has not even officially announced yet but his followers have cashed in on him being the man.

He's the flavor of the week and new blood. His numbers go up because he's not the other guys. But when people learn he's either empty or no different than everyone else, his numbers will come back down to earth. I just think it's dangerous that so many key party players have jumped on board without him even being vetted. After all he's close to McCain and even was a face for McCain-Feingold.

Fred's advantage is that he has sat out the whole gauntlet process of the other candidates beating each other and testing what works or doesn't work with the voters. He can continue taking notes and then designing his campaign on only the issues the base likes thus making his campaign the knight in shining armor puff piece. It's smart but disingenuous.
