"maybe if people were forced to reach out to others instead of the govt"
Maybe I misread that. My bad.
Anyway, I think I'm too cynical to agree with you here. I really don't think we'd see much more charity efforts if people simply had more money... especially in the times we live in.
I meant that the local charities should be used more than the last-resort govt handouts. I would say someone is much less likely to abuse a local system as opposed to the govt one
Your office sounds like a collection of solid folks. I've worked in a few office settings, and I regrettably haven't seen anything on that level. Kudos to you and your co-workers.
I work with good people but I don't think we're any different than the rest. We have entry-level to directors in here and still donate plenty. We're on a corp campus and there's a whole building of accounting people next door with several hundred entry-level data entry clerks and they kick our butts on donations. Very few receive the salaries of the other 4 buildings and are still the most generous.
Prolly shouldn't tell a mod this, but I wasn't being serious. That was my way of calling him a moron.
And FTR, I do not support the current welfare system. I think we do need a gov't handout system, but it needs to be seriously tweaked and refined to make sure those who really need help receive it accordingly.
missed that, probably my public education rearing its ugly head
I agree with an overhaul. There are those truly in need and I have no issue with that. I would guess that number is a very low %
