Freedom of speech!

Good thing it attacks a bill and not an organization.

Then perhaps there’s a criminal element. I already said it’s not, IMO, a 1A issue. But what is the legal recourse when a group publishes flat out lies? If there’s no legal pushback then, as I said, just run ads that expose the Left’s lies.

Democrats are very skilled at spreading their bull ****. I don’t have an issue with DeSantis trying different methods to counter what the pro-abortion element is pushing. Even if there is zero chance of winning a legal case, the free publicity brings it to light.

You really want it to be against the law to lie? That's a terrible idea.

It's not a "flat out" lie, either. I would say it's deceitful. The commercial doesn't tell the whole truth that there are exceptions to the law that protect a woman's health but you also have to jump through hoops and just because there are exceptions doesn't mean every woman who merits one will be granted one. For example, you have to get two doctors to agree it's life threatening, and the doctors are concerned/unsure of getting prosecuted for being too liberal with their diagnosis. She doesn't lie and say she wasn't granted an abortion. She says, "even in cases like mine," and odds are there will be women who are at risk who will not be granted an abortion.

And if you are a victim of rape you have to provide a police report. All kinds of problems with that.

Weird that none of you free speech warriors have discussed this one. Almost makes me think you don't really care about free speech, because it really doesn't get much worse than a government official that holds the highest executive position in the state trying to silence core political speech.

so we have you on record supporting free speech even if the government thinks "the ad’s claims are “false” and “dangerous” to the public health."?

like most people who don't live in Florida, I hadn't even heard about this case. seems like the federal judge made the right call here.

Well, if you work for a politician, and you don't want to do what you are told to do, you should resign.

Kudos to this official. Do what you are told or leave if you find it unconscionable.

As for DeSantis, it sounds like the courts have any overreach under control, which is their role.

Now, if they'll only do the same to the other politicians who want to silence those with whom they disagree. ("Misinformation," "Hate Speech," anyone?)

I am pretty sure you were against people on SM calling out all the stuff with Covid. I don't think you were in the jailing/firing/reeducation group of your party; but you were extremely vocal against anything that went anti-Fauci for being "anti science"
