- During that sequence of plays, Butch Jones announced on the microphone that had it been a real game, Dylan Wiesman would have been ejected. Wiesman came to the sideline and was heard saying that he could not get up from the pile on the touchdown run.

Interesting. I would like to find out more on this.

Hurd Turns Heads - UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics

"Just the way he runs, he finishes runs," said senior quarterback Justin Worley. "He runs hard. He keeps his legs moving through the first contact. He's been able to break some tackles through that which is important in terms of finishing runs and getting extra yardage."

Sophomore Joshua Dobbs echoed Worley's impressions of Hurd and passed along compliments for his teammates.

"Jalen Hurd had a great day today, but not just him," said Dobbs. "I feel the entire team had some nice runs today. I'm very excited about that.

"Jalen (Hurd) was running pretty good," said senior defensive back Justin Coleman, who stands 5-10. "He has great vision. He's pretty fast and runs hard. It's probably harder for people who hit him up high. But if you're a guy like me, I'm going to take his legs out."

LANE OUT WITH BROKEN WRIST

Hurd had a big day on Friday and had his most work as senior Marlin Lane dressed for the scrimmage but didn't participate due to a broken bone in his hand. Jones said he does expect Lane to be back on the field this spring.

"It's his wrist right now," Jones said. "He'll benefit from spring break. He's going to stay here, he's going to rehab it. We fully anticipate him to finish spring football, but a lot is how the bone heals the next 10 days."

Worley had incidents of throwing off his back foot last season as well. Hope it gets corrected and soon.

Love the video interviews, thanks for posting. Media seems obsessed with Hurd already.

I'm wondering if they are putting more defensive pressure on him right now than the other QBs which is why he is having some struggles like that. Lots of qb's even in the pros throw off their back foot when the pocket collapses or they are struggling with a blitz.

Nobody really said much of anything about him until after yesterday's scrimmage. It's been all about Von Pearson because he's been showing out.

By all accounts Hurd was very good yesterday so that's why he's the story.

Are you wondering if the coaches are intentionally putting more pressure on him with the defense than the other 3 QBs? Honest question.

That's why it is very wise to not read too much into these things. We've seen it over the years. The coaches will pressure a QB at his own level. Back ups often look better because they are not facing the same level of resistance.

That said, it sounds like Fergusion and Dobbs are progressing very well and having good springs.

I also still have the feeling that Peterman may transfer to get a restart on his career. He's getting a fair shot but it sounds as if he brings less to the table than the others.

I would not say that... I'd just say that it is very difficult for us to know. Different play calls, different D's, different WR sets, etc. A large number of variables can make situations more difficult without us being able to discern it.
