From an outsider, who does Tennessee view as their rivals?

Who do the Vols view as your rivals? I’m sure you have more than one.
It depends on your When I was at Tennessee as a student in 1956, our rivals were Alabama, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. As the years passed on, Florida and Georgia were added to the list. The SEC has become such a competitive Conference that today, any SEC school you play is so important that you never want to lose to any of them.

Growing up we owned UGA for a long time, so I never was able to think of them like I do Florida or Alabama. Same with Kentucky. Didnt we destroy UGA seven or eight times in a row during g the mid to late 90s?
Yes. We didn't play UGA traditionally.

And, then when we started an annual game, we usually won.

Georgia's rivals were Georgia Tech, Auburn, and Florida. Not us..

We beat them in 1989 paused the series for two years and then won all the games from 1992-1999. They are a clear cut rival to me because we battle them for recruits and they have been beating us more times than not for the past 24 years. Additionally, UT is o for the last 8.

Well, I’ve grown to hate Georgia more than anyone else but Alabummer is probably the most correct answer.

Never can hate Alabama quite enough. Florida during Spurrier was a similar level but is slightly less of late because they have sucked.

Next tier is GA really. Not because of a long history but because since Kirby, they are, with Bama, in our way to SEC champs.

Last tier is KY and Vandy. Both of whom consider us their mortal rivals but whom we don’t really think of that much. Either team can show a pulse though and like most SEC teams, be dangerous on any given Saturday if overlooked.
Yep, Bama is the only team that I despise, whether it's football, basketball, baseball or underwater basketweaving. Years ago, UF replaced Auburn as probable #2, when we stopped playing them the first SEC game every year.

Florida, Alabama, and personally for me I include Kentucky. I've had multiple bosses in my lifetime that were Kentucky fans so I get a special joy out of beating them in every sport.

Yes. If you ever get a chance, go to a game in Lexington.

They hate the orange so badly that snot rolls down their cheeks.

One of the best experiences ever...especially when they have good team, we have bad team, and Vols still win.

Makes me laugh just thinking about LittleCat

Tennessee is a little unique in that there isn't a consensus among our own fans who our biggest rival is, and none of the teams our fans would consider to be our biggest rival see Tennessee as their biggest rival. Conversely, we in no way consider Vandy and Kentucky to be big rivals but they both consider us to be their biggest rival.

It is also a generational thing. Most fans 55+ and under-25 would probably say our biggest rival is Alabama. A lot of people who came of age in the 90s and early 2000s would probably say Florida.
Idk a lot of Bama fans see Tennessee as an actual football rivalry as opposed to Auburn just being an instate rivalry. This is the sentiment among my friends who graduated from Bama. The amount of hate they had towards us even when we sucked was pretty crazy just like when they sucked late 90s til Saban we still hated them as much as ever. When Auburn sucks I hardly hear my friends even mention them.

Having lived in Atlanta, I have grown to dislike Georgia more than any team we play. Georgia fan are the worst, but most Alabama fans respect other teams and their fans. I do not like going to LSU because by kickoff time on Saturday night, all those raging cajuns are dead drunk and attempt to turn over your car or bus if you have a bus loaded with Tennessee fans.

Florida and Bama definitely at the top, Bama no.1. Kentucky is and old one but we beat them so much there’s no drama in that one. UGA I do more now because they’ve beaten us a lot. Vandy… well no one cares but when u play them you better kill them.

In my experience, Alabama fans hate Auburn more than Tennessee but respect Tennessee's program more than they respect Auburn. They see Auburn as a little brother; they view Tennessee more as a peer.

My bama friends don’t respect Auburn so they don’t hate them as much they see them as a joke. They hate UT because UT has actually been competition for championships all these years besides the dark ages before Heupel.
