From an outsider, who does Tennessee view as their rivals?

Who do the Vols view as your rivals? I’m sure you have more than one.
Alabama, Florida and Georgia in football.

Alabama, Kentucky and Vanderbilt in men's basketball.

LSU, South Carolina and Vanderbilt in women's basketball.

Vanderbilt and Mississippi State and Texas A%M and LSU in baseball.

1. Bama
2. Kentucky
3. Florida / Georgia (sorry Florida has fallen down the list folks - really more of a 90s rivalry)
4. Vandy

Disagree with those putting Florida over Kentucky. Kentucky is more of an all-sports rivalry in the same way Bama is. I realize we dominate the football side of it, but I still view it as 2nd most important rivalry behind Bama.

Vandy is the odd case where we're their biggest rival, but they aren't close to ours. Maybe in baseball, but that's it. The heyday of the Vandy-UT football rivalry was the 1920s, which is obviously a long time ago.

Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Vanderbilt in that order.
Disagree… would put Bama as the biggest rival, the. Florida, then UK, then Vandy… UGA if you want to call them a rival, would only be do more recently, so lowest of the ones you mentioned … obviously this is simply my opinion.

Yes. If you ever get a chance, go to a game in Lexington.

They hate the orange so badly that snot rolls down their cheeks.

One of the best experiences ever...especially when they have good team, we have bad team, and Vols still win.

Makes me laugh just thinking about LittleCat
I went last year. It was glorious. Singing Rocky Top over My old kentucky Home was classless yet beautiful and I didn't care.

Alabama and Florida for sure but Tennessee vs Texas should happen yesterday! Being deprived of The Battle for the Real UT and the right color orange… is a missed opportunity for the SEC.

Florida, Georgia, and Bama. I guess Kentucky could be thrown in there just because we’ve had some close games with them on the road and they’re our biggest basketball rival

Tennessee is a little unique in that there isn't a consensus among our own fans who our biggest rival is, and none of the teams our fans would consider to be our biggest rival see Tennessee as their biggest rival. Conversely, we in no way consider Vandy and Kentucky to be big rivals but they both consider us to be their biggest rival.

It is also a generational thing. Most fans 55+ and under-25 would probably say our biggest rival is Alabama. A lot of people who came of age in the 90s and early 2000s would probably say Florida.
I think I’d have to disagree here as a vast majority of our fanbase would put Bama at the top. I don’t know a single Vol fan who doesn’t have Bama at the top of their list.

I think the first comment is true. When fans ask my dad who grew up watching Tennessee in the 90s who our biggest rival is he says it’s tight between Florida and Bama. He hates Florida much more than me because he grew up in that heated rivalry

Bubba, because no other team has beaten them more than the Vols and before Saban it was nearly a dead heat.

UF since the 90s, but they've owned us unfortunately.

UGA we owned them until the last decade.

Kentucky is the bastard stepchild and Vandie is lil sis

A true orange blooded Vol fan hates Bubba and Vandie always in everything they do with every fiber of your body, or by definition, you aren't a real Vol fan.

A crazy hypothetical question from another outsider—if Memphis was brought into the SEC, after say 10-15 years, would they become a bigger rival than Vanderbilt? How do you think there football team would do after building the program up/increased revenue for 15 years? I am just assuming basketball would be very competitive from day one.

Thank you for asking.

UT Football's biggest rivals are well-documented. I'm surprised you couldn't find this yourself in a quick Wiki ("qWiki") search. In descending order, they are:

1. ESPN.
2. The Heisman Trophy committee.
3. The SEC commissioner (is his name Sankey now?).
4. Officiating crews from the Big 10.
5 (tied). Officiating crews from the ACC and SEC.
6. Pat Forde.
7. General Antonio López de Santa Anna (Never Forget!)
8. Other football teams. Usually Alabama and Florida, sometimes Georgia, and once upon a time Vanderbilt. Basically, whoever has been beating us a lot lately.

Alabama, Kentucky & Vandy, Georgia. Auburn used to be a great annual college rivalry game.
Florida is and always will be new money.

No. We go back over 100 years with Vandy.

From our point of view, Memphis will always be Tiger High. Just a hot mess small school.

Even in basketball, last time we were scheduled to play, they were scared to show up to take their beatdown.

Waste of time

Saban recently said on game day that Tennessee was a bigger rival to Bama than Auburn.
