June Jones on ESPN was asked a question by Rece Davis.

I forgot exactly what the question was, but it brought up the fact that everybody believed Colt Brennan was a "system quarterback". He went onto say, Tebow was a system quarterback, not Colt Brennan, that Brennan could play in the NFL. Rece asked why he thought that, and he said Tebow couldn't play in his offense. Rece asked why he thinks that, and he replied with, their offense requires an accurate passer.

Not word for word, but I was surprised he said that about Tebow.

UGA is going to beat UH by 23498u1350971956976867871235976-01489579634t681632485234765`23897417823562348167127835647`5647`45 points

Brennan will shred UGA's putrid secondary all night. If Hawaii loses, it won't be more than two touchdowns.

Agreed, this game will be a lot closer than most people probably think right now. LSU will beat OSU by a lot more than UGA will beat Hawaii.

I just love it, the gator fans are melting down over these comments. Anything that sticks it to them is ok by me. Go Vols!

“I said this on ESPN Today: The media picks the Heisman Trophy winner. No longer will it go to a guy like it did years ago on a 3-8 team. It just doesn't happen. My point was that my quarterback has been labeled a `system quarterback' for three years. He is the best passer in college history. He is. There is no question about it.
Tim Tebow is in a system. The last quarterback who was in that system, if you had asked me about Alex Smith, he was a system quarterback I thought when we were watching him. Talented. But I didn't see him in an NFL passing (system). Colt Brennan plays in an NFL passing game. You can dial it up and see that it is not a system. Tim Tebow's system is a college system. He is a great quarterback who'll probably win a national championship. He's competitive; he's all those things. But a lot of his stuff comes off little dives, fades, things he is not going to do in the National Football League. That's my point.

I think Jake Locker (from Washington) is a great athlete. I'd love to be a part of coaching a kid like that. But I said what I said and I mean it. I said this too on national radio today and probably take some heat from it.

On ESPN GameDay, they are promoting Tim Tebow to win the Heisman, which he'll probably win. My quarterback is the best player, trust me. But they (ESPN GameDay) said, and we watch at the hotel and listening to it for last six weeks, they said as they were going off the air 'Tim Tebow has accounted for 53 touchdowns in one season, the most in college football history.' I said you guys just told a lie. Last year, my quarterback threw for 58 touchdowns and ran for another (five). I got my point across. You guys ripped me a new one yesterday, and I'm going to say it again and stand by what I said, my quarterback is the best college football player in America.

I did not add Tebow's team has three loses or is not in a BCS game. I wish I had that info, why didn't you call me? The bottom line is I irritated them because they knew I was right. But I did get a whole bunch of emails and calls from Florida State people that said 'Thanks for finally saying that.”

that's great. It just goes to show that the people in front of the camera can pretty much say whatever they want.

I'm sorry but I hate this guy, and considering that Hawaii is going to Florida next year, I hope UGA beats these guy by 50. Let me ask this could Colt play in the Fla system, and isnt every QB a system QB. You play in the system of the OC.

i say that colt could play at any school in the nation and put up big numbers. You don't throw that many td's by chance.

I agree with Jones on Tebow's future as a quarterback in the NFL. I don't see it working out well at all.

What I don't understand is why he's using a quarterback's pro potential as an argument against his Heisman candidacy. Tebow's stats are impressive, and he should be on the short list of candidates for the Heisman. Brennan should be on that list as well.

But, for my money, Darren McFadden is the most outstanding player in college football.

Well, what I am saying is that Colt was in a system that throws the ball 70 times a game, and the same numbers were put up by Tommy Chang, who is he starting for now?

I dont see one false statement in what he said. The media picks the heisman, bottom line. That is why it is an award that is not worth anywhere near as much as the hype that it gets. This award means nothing.

And the biggest problem with these comments were that he tore apart a player to build up his own player. You want to come out and support your guy, say he is as good as anyone in the country, cool, but his comments were bush league.

I agree with June Jones' comments. Tim Tebow is a system QB. There is no way that will translate in the NFL.

But I think Tebow is the best football player in College Football and that is who the Heisman, in theory, is awarded to. I just get sick of ESPN lobbying for who they want to win an award or play for a championship. ESPN has turned into a very influential entity and sometimes I think it borders on tampering.

There is no question in my mind that Brennan will be the better NFL QB. Just take a look at past Heisman winners and you will see that it does not go to the best future NFL player (Torretta, Crouch, etc.)

I agree.. The heisman is about college players the here and now. The future is unpredicatable. There have been good college qbs that didnt fair so well in the NFL. will tebow or colt breanan be one of those? No one knows for certain. Tebow did make some great accomplishments this year and thats why he derserves to be on the list of Heisman candidates. Colt is alos deserving. I also think Mcfadden may win. Whatever they do in the future has nothing to do with this years award though.

I also saw the inteview live, and he said a hell of lot more than that about Tebow. He is back tracking on some of his comments.

Although I'm not a Gator fan, Tebow does deserve the heisman. How many Vol fans would love to Have Tebow playing for us. I know I sure would. June really made himself look stupid because he couldn't back up his comments when he was asked to explain the whole "System QB " comments. He tried to explain what he meant but only made Brennan look more like a system QB when he said that Hawaii beat Alabama with Timmy Chang's backup a few years ago. He said that Tebow wasn't a passer. From what I've seen, the kid can pass as good as anyone else in college football. Maybe if Hawaii didn't play Honolulu Highschool every week Brennan wouldn't have such gaudy numbers. Put him against good competition and then we will pass judgement on whether he is pro QB material. I thought June embarassed his school and looked like a desparate coach trying to make other players look bad. I can't wait for Georgia to stomp a hole in Hawaii and let them know what real college football is all about.
