it's good fodder, but personally, i thought when i heard his original comments on the selection show it was a little classless to come on a national TV show and compare players, and basically tear one kid down to prop his up. i'm all for defending players and pushing them as far as you can etc....but to rip another kid in the process comes off as petty. I admire the intent and the spirit at which it's being done, i think the execution is lacking.

CB played 1 ranked opponent and 1 BCS league team all year long, it's an insult to Tebow, DMac, and Chase Daniel that his guy even gets to sit in the same room they do.

I agree with Jones on Tebow's future as a quarterback in the NFL. I don't see it working out well at all.

What I don't understand is why he's using a quarterback's pro potential as an argument against his Heisman candidacy. Tebow's stats are impressive, and he should be on the short list of candidates for the Heisman. Brennan should be on that list as well.

But, for my money, Darren McFadden is the most outstanding player in college football.

agree 100% and D-Mac will tear up the NFL next year

I wonder how much longer it will be before ESPN is the name sponsor of the Heistman?

I was thinking the same thing-

"Presenting the ESPN Heisman from the ESPN DAC. This is also being simulcast on ESPN, Deportes and 360. Here's Lou Holtz to announce the winner."

Okay....so...

June Jones is making a point that us UT fans know all to well...

The media has a HUGE effect on who wins the Heisman(ala...Woodson/Manning)..

I like his points but I learned this truth about 10 years ago

I agree with jj
name 1, just 1 QB that the visor or urban myth or for that matter the gators have have put into the NFL that has had an impact: Rexie?
Tebag may be the first to break the mold, but he will have to develop into a pocket passer, which i believe he can do.
I hate the gators almost as much as bammer, but this kid (teabag) is good. What i like the most is his heart and passion for his team and fans. It has alot to do with the fact that he is a state native and understands how much it means to the natives. I hope the Vols can find a kid like that. Coleman maybe?

Colt Brennan is the product of a system. Hawaii ranks 113 out of 119 in rushing offense. All they do is throw the ball against absolutely NO defense. How's this for defenses?

09/01/07 Northern Colo. 63-6
09/08/07 Louisiana Tech 45-44 OT
09/15/07 UNLV 49-14
09/22/07 Charleston So. 66-10
09/29/07 Idaho 48-20
10/06/07 Utah St. 52-37
10/12/07 San Jose St. 42-35 OT
10/27/07 New Mexico St. 50-13
11/10/07 Fresno St. 37-30
11/16/07 Nevada 28-26
11/23/07 Boise St. 39-27
12/01/07 Washington 35-28

Overtime against LA Tech and San Jose State? The worst team in the SEC (Ole Miss) beat LA Tech 24-0. San Jose State LOST to LA Tech. This schedule is laughable. I am so sick of these teams that play NO ONE trying to make an argument for Heisman Candidates and National Championships. Hawaii is no where near the level of other teams in the BCS and then some. GA is going to make them wish they had stayed home for the holidays.

Sorry, but that is a ridiculous comment. This kid is completely legit. He is probably the best QB in the country. I'll put it this way. When the Dolphins announce the #1 pick in the NFL draft there is about a 50% chance that it will be a player from Hawaii. And to say that the possible #1 draft pick does not deserve to be in the same room is hilarious.

Your comments are based soley on conjecture based off of his SOS. The people who have actually seen him play a lot know how good he is. With all that being said, I think D-Mac is the best football player in the country. I think he will be a great pick for somebody at #2 in the NFL draft.

it's this line of thinking that has really devalued the Heisman imo. there will never be another Doug Flutie or David Klingler or Andre Ware. the award used to be about rewarding the most outsanding player in college football. not the most outstanding player that's on the right team, with the right record from the right conf.
agree 100% and D-Mac will tear up the NFL next year
unfortunately, that's not the criteria for winning the heisman.

It would not suprise me in the least if Miami picked CB over D-Mac. The Phins have become the new Raiders.

If I was a GM I would want D-Mac with the first pick. But, the Dolphines have to get a QB. They have an NFL capable RB. They do not have an NFL capable QB. If they were able to get a QB in free agency then I think they would love to take D-Mac.

John Beck has potential. The GM that passes over D-Mac will be looking for work in 2 years.

I think Adrian Peterson has killed that. Jackson looks like a great QB handing it off to him.

Beck has potential. He's good enough to throw screens to Ginn and hand the ball to Brown and McFadden.

That's my thinking on the draft.

I agree with June Jones' comments. Tim Tebow is a system QB. There is no way that will translate in the NFL.

But I think Tebow is the best football player in College Football and that is who the Heisman, in theory, is awarded to. I just get sick of ESPN lobbying for who they want to win an award or play for a championship. ESPN has turned into a very influential entity and sometimes I think it borders on tampering.

There is no question in my mind that Brennan will be the better NFL QB. Just take a look at past Heisman winners and you will see that it does not go to the best future NFL player (Torretta, Crouch, etc.)

I agree with Jones on Tebow's future as a quarterback in the NFL. I don't see it working out well at all.

Agree with the Tampering. Agree with Darren MCFadden. Agree with Tebow's Future NFL...Agree to an extent with June Jones...

I hate that ESPN wants to control it all in the Sports World... They are beyond Rubbish... Clearly Manning was the man in 97 as we all know and they influenced the Campaign enough to Give it to Woodson...ESPN took several statements and blew them out of proportion...The Heisman has never been the Same for many of Us since 97 because of it...The best all around player Game changer in NCAA Football this year is MCFadden you win it over a two year period and not a one year.... McFadden has done it based on that alone..

I saw JJ's comments as defending CB rather than trashing TT.

He was shooting at the myth of the media that CB had great numbers since he was a "system" QB while hyping TT. He was correctly pointing out that TT's #'s are the product of a system every bit as much as CB's.

He also corrected them on the # of TD myth - CB apparently had 63 last year.

And the biggest problem with these comments were that he tore apart a player to build up his own player. You want to come out and support your guy, say he is as good as anyone in the country, cool, but his comments were bush league.

ESPN = Woodson > Manning

_____
ESPN = Good

:)

> means greater than

ESPN said Woodson was the top college FB player above Manning . (We know it wasn't true)

The line above ESPN means not (or opposite)

So the opposite of ESPN would be good (inferring ESPN is not good)

There will be a pop quiz Friday
