Would absolutely love to see D'Eriq King in James Coley's offense, simply for the comedic value...Also, would be interesting to see him vs. Trask.
I think OU or LSU is more likely. Their offenses fit his play style and the last UGA spread team was with Shockley. Plus Lincoln Riley and Joe Brady are the biggest names in the game right now when it comes to offense.I would love to see King transfer to UGa just to see Dana Holgerson get hit with karma for the scummy way he treated his seniors who he didn't redshirt four games into this season.
Scary thing for UGA is they have nothing behind him. Stetson Bennett is a backup at best and Dwan Mathis most likely won't play football again due to health concerns. Since UGA appears to be actively looking for a grad transfer it seems like Fromm is leaving. Maybe Smart and Coley can get King to listen, but they'd be lying to themselves if they think UGA's a more appealing offer than OU/LSU. Though if King did go to OU I'd expect Rattler to transfer and he'd have immediate eligibility since he just redshirted. UGA boards have said they're pushing for CJ Stroud and Robby Ashford now as well.
OSU gets fields for one more year and OU has Spencer Rattler waiting, but the other schools have questions. If Fromm leaves UGA is starting a frosh or grad transfer. I think LSU will be able to get whoever they want as long as Brady is there. Will be hard for them to hold onto him imo. Since qb’s would rather transfer than wait teams will always have options in the portal.Interestingly, many of the top teams are thin at QB. That includes Ohio State, LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, Notre Dame...
Exceptions are notably Clemson, Baylor, and - gasp - the Vols.
It's becoming a real possibility that Charlie Brewer may have to medically retire from football. I hope for him and his family that everything works out for the best.Interestingly, many of the top teams are thin at QB. That includes Ohio State, LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, Notre Dame...

I don’t think any teams main concern was Fromm when they played UGA. Most coaches outright said they were mainly focused on shutting down Swift. UGA just didn’t have the receivers/QB play/play calling to beat many teams through the air. I think UGA scored more than 30 points on 1 sec defense all year. There are a couple of quarterbacks, Fromm and Bentley, from the last two seasons - that during those seasons, I thought - wow, it's going to be a long time until they graduate. Bently of course, was injured, however I think we still beat them with him in. Fromm no longer scares me, even if he stays. His accuracy wasn't what it was.
An epiphany on recruiting - Loading up on good quarterbacks out of high school at one point seemed the thing to do. Bama had Tua and Hurts. Georgia had Fromm, Eason and Fields over the last few seasons.
Now, look at 3 of the 4 teams in the playoffs - doing great with quarterbacks that initially signed with someone else. Just because you missed them at first, you might not miss them. (Except that I'm sure Kirby misses Fields)
Ashford decomitted from Ole Miss. Have heard UGA and UT have reached out, but don't know the extent and if the interest is mutual. Stroud is a long shot, possibly just throwing out a hail mary on the possibility Fromm leaves. Neither is likely, but never know with recruiting. Mathis never visited UGA and committed over the phone to Smart, so I guess anything is possible. UGA will regret never spinning the tires on Bailey.
Fromm was better than Eason in UGA's offense. Compare Fromm's freshman year to Eason's and there's no comparison. UGA didn't crap on Eason lol. He got injured and Fromm came in and played better. For UGA, it wasn't just letting Fields go. It was two years prior, letting Eason go. Always thought he was the better QB and UGA crapped on him. They lost two top national QB's to go with a less talented Fromm.

Think there was a thread about the lack of proven WR's. I never thought Cager would do as well as he did and I thought D-Rob would have a bigger impact than he did. Hard to tell which of the 3 between QB play, WR, and play calling was the main issue though.Wasn’t there a thread on here over the summer where we all discussed the lack of proven depth and playmakers on the outside for UGA, and how it was going to be a problem?
At what point in 2017 would you have pulled Fromm for Eason? Fromm did well the entire year and at no point really struggled enough to where a switch needed to be made. After that Fields was coming in and the QB room was just too full. I think Eason handled the situation admirably given how it unfolded and honestly he was able to shine more at Washington since they have discovered the forward pass. Even going with Fromm over Fields is understandable when you look at the fact that Fromm had good years in 2017 and 2018. It looks awful in hindsight, but I don't think Kirby or Chaney should be judged that negatively for it. If it happens again then absolutely, but right now they just chose to make the safe play rather than the high risk/ high reward play. Would've been like Saban riding it out with Jalen instead of Tua. Since it worked it looks great. If it didn't then the move would've been torn to shreds.Eason's performance was more than adequate to earn a shot at getting his job back. And had a better year at UW this year after finally getting back on the field. There's arguments both ways. Personally, I just thought Eason was the better choice. But, he was a Richt recruit for his system, so there is that. I actually thought Eason would have decommitted after Richt was fired and followed him to Miami or stay home at least. didn't expect to see him show up for Smart.
That former 3 star kid out of Georgia, transferring in from Nevada would be useful. Don’t assume he gets a waiver?Hearing Fromm is leaning towards entering the draft. Apparently there were issues between he and Coley due to Coley being vocal about favoring Fields and the relationship never got any better. Only real backup behind Fromm is Stetson Bennett. Dwan Mathis likely won't be able to play football again due to the brain cyst he had removed in the preseason. UGA in contact with Jordan Love and D'eriq King.

He's the best WR that's been there in a while. With Blaylock having a complete ACL tear, he may be the only thing they have next year too. Simmons and Landers are both mediocre at best. UGA has Rosemy committed, but hes a possession receiver like Pickens. UGA's issue is lack of a deep threat. If UGA misses out on Arian Smith to Bama then they won't have one next year either. Kind of interesting the best receivers in the SEC this year have all been 6'1 or under burners. Chase, Smith, and Jeudy all fit that mold. Jauan Jennings is the only big body receiver I can think of having a great year in the SEC besides Pickens/Cager.Pickens' hotheadedness hasn't helped UGa's offense or reciever consistency, either.

He'll be in the league next year. Was a senior this year. I didn't know too much about him before the year and from what I read from canesinsight I didn't think he'd be that impactful. Guess it was either sour grapes or a change of scenery did him well. UGA's offense lived and breathed through him and was completely ineffective when he went down. Definitely respect the kid for playing through so many injuries this year.I think a healthy full season for Cager next year, and he's top of the league. Was really impressed with him.
I honestly think the move to Washington helped him. Not sure if its Kirby or Coley, but UGA's offense isn't going to put many QB's into the league. Strangely enough it has put in a few WR's.Yes. Eason did handle it very well indeed. I think his stats there would close to double if he didn't seem to get thrown to the turf as much as he did in the two full games I watched.
He is also a full blown NFL pocket QB. The GA thing won't hurt him in the long run. He will garner plenty of interest. Big kid. Big arm. More down field range than Fromm.
