Actually, what this thread is about is ripping on those that idolize CPF. I haven't seen anyone disrespect CPF. I haven't seen anyone say that he was a bad coach. I have my own opines on him personally. Most of us agree that he needed to go and most of us agree that the way it was done sucked. I really don't think this is about CPF anymore, but about those who won't quit until we all admit that he was the greatest coach in the modern era, that we should still have him here and that we would be in NC contention if he were here. That is the only thing that I can come up with. I tried to get Pimpster to tell us what his point in arguing was about and he said to get back at all those who disprect CPF. But no one really does that....so, who knows.
You havent seen anyone disrespect CPF? Really? hmy:
Depends on what you call disrespect. Telling the truth about the guy is not disrespect. It might hurt CPF idolizers feelings, but da troof is da troof. And what I put in my post above is basically what has been said at least in the last 2000 or so posts. I would see disrespect being "he didn't deserve the HOF" (absolute BS, he did deserve it), his career at UT was a failure (more BS), or he hated the kids (read Inky's book). I haven't seen that on here. If you have seen that please quote it so I can abuse the posters accordingly.

I call him Failure. And Fulamanure. Cause its funny, and he's arrogant, and its enjoyable to watch arrogant people fail. He's fair game as long as he continues to steal money.
Really? I feel like I am arguing with Gator fans or Bammers. You are a late comer to this thread, so I forgive you. Nobody wants to lose but damn. Grow up people. We will continue to have our ups and downs. But we will remain Tennessee. That can not be taken away. Nor the pride that comes with it.Actually, what this thread is about is ripping on those that idolize CPF. I haven't seen anyone disrespect CPF. I haven't seen anyone say that he was a bad coach. Really, you know him well enough to call him arrogant? What qualifies failure? If you look at his career as a whole, I don't think that you could call him a failure. I wish I had his "failed career". You do too. If you say you wouldn't trade your career for his you are a liar. I take it back Greve, Pimp, and VolFanecs, there are some ignorant people posting here. And here I thought Volbeef and his personal sexretary NorthKnoxVol were the only ones.
Yes. I do know him. Since the summer of 1998. He's rediculously arrogant.
He is a failure. He got a well oiled machine stocked with talent and ran it dry. Sure he won a title. Take Phil off that staff, they still win the title. As good as his record was, it should've been better considering it was a 2 team conference in the 90s.
This HOF coach is such a joke that even those inbred idiots in Fayettnam wanted a bankrupt loser instead.
Yep, a "Foolmer" sayer here. It's not hatred toward the man, it's more dis-satisfaction and the lack of potential/possible accomplishements that we think he could or rather should have had. The Fulmerites keep bringing up the two SEC championships, two other SECCG and the NC. But, what about him not beating Florida in 95 or 97 for more SEC and NC game appearances? Or, the fiasco in the SECCG against LSU in 01? Another NC possibility. The way he back doored the last two SECCG's? It's not like he took over a KY or SC or Arky team and built them into NC contenders. He was give the keys to a new Vet n told to keep it running n win some races with it. But, he stopped keeping it up (like changing the oil) so now we're in the process of having to rebuild the motor! Bad thing is, after he tore it up (ran it in the ground) he still got paid millions! Yes, if CLK had stayed we would be a lot further down the road.

People keep saying "backed in" to the SECCG, but unless I'm mistaken, they had to play 8 SEC games just like everyone else, and took care of their business when others didn't. I've never known ANY fans to complain about the how in getting to play for the conference championship, yet our "fans" do. And they straight up won their way into the 04 game.
Yeah, kinda but not really. This was explained several posts back. Think the point was we were blown out of two of our biggest games to our largest rivals but managed to beat the weakest SEC teams that year and we actually got into that last SECCG because of the way the tie breaker was. Not because we were a dominate SEC team! Fulmer didn't win many big games to prove his legacy. He did beat good Florida teams twice (98 and 01) but lost several times to lessor Fla teams. Won the NC against a lessor Fla St team that was in by default and using a third string QB. Beat an Ohio St. team that didn't want to be there but got hammered by power house Nebraska and Penn State teams. Beat by Memphis State, Wyoming and Vanderbilt plus the bowl losses that piled up after the NC. The ones that really began to put the pressure on him were the two peach bowl losses. There should be no excuses for loosing against those teams! It was just past time for him to go and because he didn't go when he should have, I think that is why so many fans harbor resentment toward him. Over his tenure we expected more but recieved less. Before you bring up the NC, think about this: Did he beat a quality opponent like Alabama did last year? Or, Auburn the year before or Florida against Ohio St.?

He did beat UGA (stomped them) who went 10-2 and played in the Sugar Bowl, and beat (stomped) a good, but underachieving Arkansas team. USC was also top 20 when he beat them that year. Yes, he lost big against Florida and Bama, but he still won 75% of the SEC games and ass whooped the eventual #2 team in the country. When it mattered, his team could have folded down the stretch, but they didn't, and that says a lot.
I find the moronic statement "he gave half his life to UT" hilarious! Failure is robbing UT when it hurts the most. He used to be a winner, he accepted mediocrity, he became a loser, now he's a Failure.
A HOF coach nobody wants. Even crappy Arkansas knew better.
