I posted this before, but VN please answer me this. If you knew nothing about the past and a thread was started about a coach and it said. How about a coach with a record of 152-52, NC, and 1 year removed from the SECG. Can anyone honestly say they would not be saying "hire him now"? Instead; Tennessee fired him.

Any common sense fan would trade Dooley for Fulmer in a heartbeat. They do not even compare. Those who claim they would not just hold a grudge toward Fulmer and would be willing to go down with the Dooley ship. Maybe it's noble, I think they are just so anti-Fulmer they would rather see UT shut down the football program than do what's best for Tennessee. Fulmer is not coming back, but to compare Dooley to Phil is just a joke.

I agree with that.

The facts are when he took over HC he took over a very talented team. Yes he worked for Majors and helped recruit that term.

The facts are also when Fulmer left TN was a middle of the pack SEC team due to talent.
Fulmer let the talent level drop.

Fulmer was a very good coach that turned into a complacent coach. It was time for CPF to go.

It is time for Dooley to go.

Even worse, all the youngsters here would have to admit they were wrong. That will never happen.

I agree, but with one asterisk. Let's have the right coach in place, and let's wait until the end of the season.

This little nugget was posted in the "stats thru 9 games " thread.

I keep hearing Fulmer was fired after winning the SEC East the year before(2007).

The 2012 team has by far the worse TN defense that I have ever saw take the field at Neyland.

Here is a stat I would not have believed.

"We have given up 319 points in 9 games, the worse defense in our history(2007) gave up 344 points in 12 games(28.7pt/gm). "

Here's the most important point that needs to be made regarding Fulmer now. If he was still the HC Tennesse would be better than the football program is now. But, the football program would never be as good as it was before he ran it down if he was still here! Now, I for one, am not as mad about Dooley as I was about Fulmer.

Not really any proof of this at all.

The actual most important point on Fulmer: If he hadn't gotten lazy and complacent as head coach and done his job, he'd probably still be coaching at Tennessee today.

Is it just me or do none of the Fulmerites not realize Phil inherited a PROGRAM that was one year removed from back to back SEC Championships? Though I don't think Dooley can turn it around it needs to be realized nobody was goin to be able to come in and do what Fulmer did because the program was so run down!

I cant believe what a lot of fans are saying about Coach Fulmer. I guess our memories have be high jacked. Remember He's the only coach to win us a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP since 52. 2 SEC Championships (1997 &98). The Vols made three other SEC Championship game appearances in 2001, 2004, and 2007 losing all three. I know he had some decline over the last several years of his career, Fulmer's winning percentage was still among the top in the country for coaches who had over ten years' experience.
So He's still better than what we have now. I understand if we dont bring him back. But why do we continue to slander a great Coach who LOVES Tennessee? Are we that un-Grateful?:banghead2:

Ive said it here before and will say it again.
The Volnation will never return to greatness until all of the Fulmer haters repent and admit they were wrong.
We define "snakebit" as a program since the complete disaster and mishandling of the CPF departure.
I'm begging the haters to please turn in your fan card or repent for your sins!

"We can do better, we are Tennessee" thats what all the haters said back in 08. Now we will be heading into the 5th season of "We can do Better"

So please one of you Fulmer hating Einsteins tell me exactly how long the rest of us will have to wait until "We can do Better?"

Anyone who gets on here and continues to bash CPF is a disgrace to the orange. Grow up! Admit you were wrong or please move along..Its obvious to the entire world except you that you were wrong.

Back away slowly .

Gruden is making 4.5 million per year on MNF and is the hottest name out there.

He can pick and choose where he wants to coach NFL or NCAA.

Universities have not been beating Fulnwrs door down with job offers.

I haven't heard Fulmer name brought up for anything in the NFL

You fail big time trying to compare
Phil to Chucky.
