Especially when we go into the Swamp, and whip the Gators.

Guys, you are still not seeing the big picture. Even if Fulmer beats florida this year it's not going to change the fact that he still claps when we screw up, he still fails to get his best talent on the field, he still has a "play not to lose mentality",he still consistently fails to motivate our guys for the big game, etc.....Until we make a change in the coaching department, we are stuck with this coach and his stubborn ways. I appreciate all that Fulmer has done for our team but he must be held accountable each year and it's time to move on.

Even if huh? It almost seems like you want him gone no matter how this brand new season ends. CPF gets in the face of plenty of players and I highly doubt the best players weren't playing on Sat. Who would you have him replace out of the starting O and D?

Eric Berry would have been on my starting lineup for one.I also would have put Berry, Oneal,Vinson,Creer,or anyone but Taylor in the backfield if I was going to run that silly trick play that they did. I think you are taking my remarks the wrong way. Fulmer is a good guy. I like him as a person. We have to do what is right for Tennessee football.Fulmer is not all of a sudden going to blossom into a different coach. He is what he is.His overall record over the past is great but when you are more talented than 80% of the teams you play then you are supposed to win 80% of your games. Football coaching is a business and you have to do what's best for the team. I'm sorry if you don't agree with me but that is my opinion.

Berry played most of the game and the coaches are starting him this week. While I agree on the "trick" play, it's still only 1 time you can point to the wrong personnel being out there.

Better to do this as soon as possible than to wait too late and end up where Michigan and FSU are right now with coaches that are over the hill and not motivating the highly rated recruits they bring in each year.

Unless Carr wins 10 games he's gone. And really winning 10 games at michigan is no great accomplishment.

I think people are sleeping on OSU in the big-10. They have a lot of young talent and the big-10 is weak, and most of their big games are late. Morrelli wouldn't be starting at 8 pac-10 schools and will be PSU's downfall.

My point is you have no clue how this season ends. If it plays out like you think it will then we are in agreement. I don't feel coaching changes should ever be made in the middle of the season.

How about Jamaal Lewis in 97 against Florida. If he would have started, we would have had a better chance. Look over Fulmer's career, not just this year.

Again, you've pointed to 2 instances in 10 years. I agree with both but don't believe it's a trend.

Are you wanting me to write a book about it. I assumed you knew that it was common knowledge that this is a problem at UT.If you don't agree with me on that then it's fine. How do you feel about the numerous other problems that Fulmer has as a coach. I mentioned a few in my original post. Why are you so defensive of him? Do you actually think he is one of the best coaches out there? Does Tennessee not deserve better?

Never said he was the best coach but I disagreed with your reasons (just claps, doesn't play the best players, etc.). I just feel those are totally off and said so. His coaching ability is another matter.

You are a Fulmer sympathizer and I'm not so we obviously aren't going to agree about this issue. No hard feelings, let's move on.

let's see if carr will respond....all the inyerviews I have heard from Michigan players, they are taking a lot fo the blame and are standing behind their coach and very public about it.

weiss is going nowhere for a long time.

phil's seat is not hot right now, except on this board.

all he's done wrong is lose a game that everyone thought he would anyway. now go lose games you're supposed to win....a la Lloyd Carr, then.........

I don't live in Tennessee, so I can't be sure, but I would say his seat is fairly hot. If UT loses 5 games this year, he would probably be gone. Now you can say that you don't think Tennessee will lose 5, but if you are in a position like that, you are on the hotseat.

I somewhat agree with this. The average fan I run into does not have a problem with Phil right now.

you would, but you'd be wrong. his seat is no hotter today than it was after the 05 season. the big time money folks still like CPF. MH still likes CPF. until either of those changes, and more likely both, he's just not going anywhere.

can that change, yes. but one game in to the season, losing a game that everyone outside knoxville expected you to lose, nope.

and 7-5 ain't going to get him fired either. it would take a monumental collapse, probably not even capable of happening, even under CPF's watch, for him to get canned at the end of this season.

eh, i don't know...i like many of you have a lot of friends that are TN fans, and it seem with them, like on this board, it's pretty well split down the middle, pro/con.

opinions on either side can/will be changed based on what happend this year and next.

and he will be here next year...like it or not.

I guess I could be wrong up here...
